I am currently in the process to spec out a closet and get it ready and was wondering if I could use mirrors on the walls for a reflective surface. Is this a good idea? - would just use mylar however I don't know where I can purchase some in my area and not really wnating to order online?
Look up hydroponic stores in your area, mirrors DO NOT work. They absorb light actually and can cause hot spots.
Go to walmart and get emergency blankets, if people say they don't have them, they are wrong, go to the camping section and look around, in a box about the size of a deck of cards, was around 2.99 here, some have said they are cheaper.
Mirrors actually absorb light, the glass when first exposed to light, the light goes through and gets refracted/absorbed(more just distributed through the glass) then reflected off the silver backing(which is a good reflector) but then back again through the glass.

But white paint is very easy to get, install(paint/spray), and manage. If it gets dirty, put another coat on it.

biggest problem with mylar; it reflects the heat, too...(Weedhound proved that to me; she switched from mylar to flat white paint; 1000 HPS lighting, temps dropped ten degrees)...:pimp:
I assume the Emergency blankets do, too?...or they wouldn't keep you warm...:stoned:
Indeed, but with the mylar, if you have adequate ventilation, say a cool tube, and then you can efficiently move that air away from the room/box to a safe location, say you splice it into your HVAC and then boom, you just have a vent that is on different times of the day then the rest........
