Burying stems at flowering, effects?

I'm a scientist at heart, and I enjoy doing experiments with growing techniques; I use control and experimental groups. I'm a nerd, I know :smokin:

Anyways, been experimenting with stimulating extra root growth by burying the stems at flower. When I changed the light cycle to 12/12, I add extra soil to cover the bottom of the stem 1.5" from the bottom of the first node. Like tomato plants, cannabis will actually form new roots from the buried part of the stem. I wanted to see if this would affect the yield, flowering speed, or potency.

I found it impossible to tell if it affects yield. And I didn't note any difference in the flowering "speed" (i.e. pistils developed at the same time, trichs appeared at the same time, trichs changed colors at approximately the same times and ratios, etc.). But there might be a slight difference in potency.

Basically, I found that the buried ones gave quicker high, and lasted several hours longer. It's nearly impossible to tell if the buried ones gave "higher high," but it was a little more euphoric.

I had several friends help me in "blind tests", and they agreed with me (I didn't tell them which was which when they tested). Of course, it could all be in our heads or random coincidence. Just thought I'd share with y'all :thumbsup: Thoughts? Is burying the stems already commonly done?

Interesting. I know it's commonly done when transplanting (usually in veg), but I was under the impression that root growth slows dramatically during flowering...maybe that deserves a test to...

your plant should be building roots during vegetation, not during flowering, when the plant is devoting all its energy into flowering and propagation ... I'd also like to warn you about excessive experimentation ... I have a couple friends, that are always ruining their plants, because they can't stop 'playing scientist' :weedpoke: ... not to suggest you shouldn't try new things, but be careful your plants don't suffer from your curiosity ... imitate Mother Nature, she knows more than we do ;) ... happy gardening :thumbsup:

Interesting. Like I said, it could all be in our heads....and I don't take it too seriously when I do experiment. I don't smoke much anymore; growing is more of a hobby for me now. So I don't really care if I lose a few plants to :weedpoke:-ing haha
