Dual Arc Lamps

Any one know anything about the Metal Halide and High Pressure Sodium tubes that are combined into one glass. It would seem Iâ??m not losing any of the red or orange just picking up blue to go with it. Just wondering if they would be better for veg and or flowering?? Iâ??m not worried about cost as much as I am about quality and yield. I will replace bulbs when need no matter what they cost me. Two 1000W bulbs will cost me $287, if I get 4 bulbs to switch out it will cost me like $350= 2 Sunmaster MH Conversion Lamp - 600W and 2 Sunmaster Super HPS Deluxe 1000W. Or am I just buying marketing going with sunmaster? anyone think I Should go with cheep bulbs that give off same W and about same lumens. in a 6x7 room Iâ??m using 2 switchable (HPS/MH) digital adjustable (600w, 800w 1000w) ballasts this will allow me to use same ballasts for both veg and flower and cut down the bill during veg using only 1200W vs 2000w is the savings even going to be worth it or should I just use the 1000W dual arc from veg through flower and just adjust my light cycle? any and all input would be helpful. :stoned:

What I've found is that although these do put out the RED and BLUE in far better PAR then either MH or HPS can do alone, thus being in many ways far better. I found some people saying the bulb only runs on 240v. I found the same being said about the Hortilux BLUE on a few posts.

Unfortunately I can't seem to find ANY actual site that supports this. Only peoples posts on various forums.

I also notice these bulbs have a VERY short life span, something like 6000 hours.

Beyond that I'm to much a noob to help much. :D

So they all run off ONLY 240v powered Ballasts? I'd seen people post this on the forums. Looks to me like they ALL say 240v+.

I'm not trying to steal this thread ;). I've been looking at 1000w switchable Ballasts and MANY run on either 110v or 220v. Looking at the charts on this site show Nominal voltage in the 240-260v range for all the 1000w bulbs. Does this mean I have no choice but to run 220v to my ballast?

As for the actual answer to this thread, looks like the only disadvantage to these bulbs is lifespan.

Hortilux is saying M47(Metal Halide) & S52(HPS) 1000 watt ballasts; which are ANSI rated 1000 watt magnetic ballasts and enclosed fixtures are required. Looks like they are saying 220 volts are required too?

I wouldn't recommend a digital ballast; with one of these expensive puppies...$$$$
