Man Dies After Choking on Bag of Pot During Arrest

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. â?? Bay County deputies say a 23-year-old man who was shocked with a stun gun died after choking on a large bag of marijuana during an attempted arrest.

According to The News Herald, Andrew Grande ran from deputies who responded to the scene of a reported physical disturbance early Friday morning. Grande was later confronted by the investigators, who saw him try to put something in his mouth while he struggled with them.

Grande broke free from the deputies, who had managed to put one handcuff over his wrist. Authorities then used the stun gun.

After Grande was shocked, deputies noticed that he appeared to be choking. They couldn't clear his throat with the Heimlich maneuver. Grande was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

It is fucked up that they stunned him even though they KNEW he had put something in his mouth. But also, trying to swallow a large bag of marijuana is not a very good idea.

Well, we all know that the cannabis wouldn't have killed him. Just goes to prove the insanity of the cannabis prohibition. A needless life lost due to an immoral. lazy, foot dragging electorate. I can only wonder when our elected officials will do the will of the people rather then keep the drug war inflamed. Tased over mj, the cops should be the one's going down also. But you can rest assured they will remain cops after being slapped on the wrist. :mad:

Im going to be honest here, That sucks about dying. But sounds like general stupidity. Kinda warns me to not try to eat weed in order to not go to jail b/c that is your possible outcome.

Yes this is tragic but I agree with Cannamanibus, the small amount of weed was probably a lesser charge than some type domestic charges.

The cops should be arrested for murder.

I don't know about murder, but seeing as they are trained in more ways than one, I.E. more than the heimlich, to save a choking person. I feel that they should be charged with neglect to save a life.

This just goes to prove that stupid does reproduce and that unfortunately some of those people smoke pot.

im not sure if this is natural selection at work or a tradegy... maybe a little bit of both.
