Auto Seedling Won't Shuck Her Shell
Hey y'all, I have this Short Rider that germed but stopped growing, and she won't get rid of her shell. I am wondering if there is anything (surgery or whatever) to do to save her. I tried putting her in a warm spot, kept the soil moist (but not soaked), and she's been stuck in this stage for 4 straight days now :(
Just wondering if there's reason for hope.
Thank you everyone :)

Pluck it off quick or it will die

CAREFULLY remove the shell, by prying outwards, with a pair of toothpicks ... you may kill it, so be gentle ... if planted too shallow, seeds have trouble with the shells ... but, some varieties just have tough shells, regardless ... good luck :smokin:

three of my plants had this exact problem for almost a week, and i just sorta flicked the seed casing off, very gently of course. one of them was about an inch out of the soil before the seed even split completely open. it looked like a tiny little mushroom. so yeah, as long as you're careful im sure it will be fine.

Hey man, thanks for the help, but I lost her :( I tried oh so delicately to take the shell off with a sharp pair of tweezers, but it wouldn't budge a bit. The shell was completely stuck to the cotyledons.
'Better luck for me next time I hope. I also want to post here more often, but the back button on my browser doesn't work for some reason when I come to this site.
Thanks again

It did that to me too for like 2 weeks(back button), you have to press it 3 times once the page is loaded lol. Just went away one day & now it's normal.
I use tweezers also, easier for me than toothpicks or whatnot. You have to be more careful though. I took one of the cotyledons off once with the shell and the plant survived until I accidentally gave it full veg nutes after only 3 days from germination (LABEL YOUR WATER!). If using tweezers you just want to grab the shell from the top & bottom next to the stem and press gently until the shell cracks, then you can pry it off and pray your plant survives.
