Sour Diesel / Trainwreck turning hermaphrodite. Whyyyyyyy!!! HELP PLEASE

I just checked my girls about 15 minutes after the dark light cycle was over and the lights turned on and i see yellow banannas or male flowering on my plants. one of them had 3 spots where i saw hermaphrodite pollen sacks AND ITS ON MY SOUR DIESEL CROSSED WITH TRAINWRECK PLANT!!! it's also on my other kush plant. no light gets in there... i only saw a couple spots on the plants where they changed. is my buds ruined?? Will the yield and potentiency of the thc be changed?? see..... i always thought some females will do this to produce the lucky seed people find in their buds. bud i didn't know if you would see the banannas (or as some people call them "male balls" or "nut sacks") on regular females. someone please help me. i don't know what to do. i know it's not time to wack them life the MAFIA because the flowering stage isn't quite done yet so they got some time to grow yet. what do i do to save my babies?

How far along are they in flowering, do you know how much longer to finish? Grown from seed?

All you can really do is to try and pluck them off. Depending on the size of the plant, it can be pretty time consuming, trying to get them all. IME you *never* get them *all*, but you can salvage the plant, for the most part.

What you need to do is learn why they turned. If it's on *both* strains, it's probably some environmentally induced stress that's caused it.

well they are 4 1/2 weeks into flowering. it looks like some "sacks" are trying to open but its wierd cause some sacks are green covered in white but releasing hairs out of them and some the opposite, releasing banannas. i'm trying to get some pics up but the loading time goes out/expires. i'm really freaking out, they have a really good resin when i smell / touch them and the budding area's look extremely healthy. would cell phone light hurt them in the night stages even IF its under 5 min.? i figured it's darker than even the moon light. and i've checked on them a few times during the flowering stage with the same cellphone and they never turned herma. the area's dark as can be and the lights are on a 12/12 timer.

It takes *very* little light to stress a plant. Every cell phone screen I've ever seen produces more than enough light to stress a plant. I think you've answered your own question here.

If you *have* to check on plants, without the grow lights on, do it *right* at lights out, or right before lights-on, or use green light of the proper spectrum.

i kinda knew the answer too but i didn't really want to hear it ya know:( was hoping that their might have been a better answer. well... last time i ever go on any other website forums. i think i'll stick to this one. everyone on the other website forums said cell phone light wouldn't hurt them. well, i experienced the truth first hand. i appreciate the info though. ps you know how to do a signature on every message you send? i'm really trying to figure it out:) but i cant

if you just HAVE to disturb your plants during the night-cycles, use a GREEN filter on your light ... mini-Maglites have optional kit that includes a green lens filter ... :smokin:

i never knew a mini-mag light had a green light kit. thanks for the heads up about the mag thing. i gotta pick one up definately!! but one thing about my plants... the bananna's or nutsacks that i ripped off the plants NEVER GREW BACK!!! Apparently that works as long as you can catch them before they open and release the pollen. i appreciate the feed back about the mag light though. gonna pick one up tomorrow!

I thought it had to be a green led light. Is this true?

I think it is an old wives tale. I have messed with lights and tried to make stressed plants so they will produce pollen. A simple cell phone light for a few minutes will not have effect.

First, you did not ruin your garden, you will have some seeds to work from, and maybe they crossed with another plant in the flower room and you could have a really neat cross (happened to me on occasion).

What does stress plants is..........
Too much fertilizer
Too much water
Too cold
Too hot
Not enough ventilation.
Changes (significant) in the full light pattern.

This sounds like a stress situation to me. Take advantage of it and harvest the pollen and do some crossing. Turn this into positive instead of freak out. I reckon I read somewhere that genotype is unstable and has the tendency to go intersexual, not quite a true herm.
