also how do i create a signature for this sight?
There's different kinds of fluorescent tubes?
T-12 tubes - common shop lights- requires T-12 fixtures...the weakest light
T-8 tubes - a stronger improved shop light- smaller in diameter, but stronger light - requires T-8 light fixtures
T-5 tubes and T-5 High Output tubes. The strongest of the fluorescent tubes & the most expensive. The T-5 HO cost about as much as HID lights..:(...they require their own special fixtures.
A 250 watt HID light is perfect for 2-3 flowering plants...IMO.
(You get the sig option after a + sign appears after the 'registered' symbol under your user name; the option will appear in your User CP)
get a 250 for flowering and if you want to make a badass light for veg, i would compact fluorescent bulbs. I just make mine last sunday and my plants went from seedlings to triple their height and probably 4x as many leaves. I bought a 2 x 2 foot piece of wood and cut 12 holes in it for light fixture boxes like you would install in your ceiling. They are blue boxes and I got 12 plastic bulb bases. I just used standard 14-2 wire and pigtailed everything. So i basically have in a 2x2 area I actually have 16 42watt CFL bulbs and its all wired to just a plug in. I uses like 300 watts but that thing makes some light. I am around 25000 lumens and I only spent like 60 dollars for everything. I would suggest something like that for my mother and clones. I went a little overboard but I think a few of those 100 watt or 150 watt cfls from home depot would work just fine. They are like 7200 lumens per bulb. If you use fluorescent tubes, dutch pimp is right on about the t5 being better. Just make sure to use one cool bulb and one warm one. Also any fixture you get from your hardware store will not be 54 watts like the High output fixtures from sunblaze. The ones that you will find commonly are 26 watts. That isnt too bad but you just need to use more. Just know that a 4 foot 26 watt T5 bulb will put out around 2500 lumens. One of my 42 watt CFLs makes 1800 lumens and its 2" x 2" lol. I like my slightly less efficient CFLs.
I found a T5 tube fixture that holds 4 tubes. i can get it with tubes for 150.00 is that enough for veg and flowering?? and is that a good deal
it's almost too much for vegging and not enough for great flowering...IMOQuote:

I used 40-watt T10s & T12s for many successful gardens, finally working my way up to a sixteen lamp bank :wtf: ... then, I switched to HPS, and it was like night & day (flourescents don't 'penetrate', no matter how many you run) ... Dutch Pimp is right-on , go with the high-pressure lamps, don't waste your time & money on fluorescents (for the record, I do much prefer the 48" tubes over the CFLs, if you have the room) ... happy gardening :smokin:
I agre with Dutch Pimp. If you are seriously wanting to grow and seriously spending 150 or more for lighting. Buy yourself a HID. ALways goa little bigger then what you want incase you wanna expand later. You can fine a 400 watt hps with reflector and ballast for around 120 online. The bigger the more expensive. but it well worth the price even if you get a good deal on CFLs or shop lights. watt per lumen is higher and when you flower you will need the extra lumens.
If you only planned on growing one plant or just a few plants and then clone a mother my setup with the CFL's or some cheaper tubes is great but you could just run a small 400 HPS light with a 400 MH conversion bulb. That way you spend the money on one light but just an extra 100 on the bulb isnt too bad, and i can tell you a 400 watt MH will beat the shit out of my 16 42watt CFL's.
yes yes they will. :)
