Tell me what you guys think? and i tell you what i think
I think it is, but I still prefer dirt.
easy for me. most have trouble
hahaha dirt r u serious j/k but really dirt is much more forgiving than hydroponics cause if u fuck up on dirt theres always a chance of saving it but water i dont think so, only if you catch it in time
personally i think it can be as easy as u want it to be or the biggest pain in the ass known to man if u try and take short cuts.i think its easier to let a system do all our watering for you than trying to spend an hour trying to hand water a ton of plants, especially when all u have to do is open a valve and let the rez drain and from there pump it to your desired location.plus i hate cleaning up standing water from soil containers.
Whenever I've grown hydro everything was automatic and on a timer.
The biggest problem(s) with hydo is that a mistake can wipe out everything very quickly and that includes power failures (extended).
I have my system on an UPS just because of that.
Also, hydro demands a lot of attention unless you have the process down.
that is really true everythings on timer hahaha (automatic that's what i like) but still nutrients you have to mix yourself, check water ph and ppm for nutrients that's a must(daily), and the more time you spend in your garden the more you get, o yea power outage that would f$%^ you up especially the longer the worst
power outage will affect any grow. the fact that a power outage will also affect your watering cycle is kinda shitty but not that big of a deal.u can hand water every hydro system just like anything else.people say "well every thing happends so fast theres no way i can catch it"not true, only in a aero system is were u really really run into trouble".i like hydro a.for the growth.b the production. c. the quality. with hydro u can see the problem fast and learn how to fix it and watch the problems fade away verry verry fast,as aposed to soil were fixing problems can take weeks to show results instead of in 1 or 2 days.its just a matter of personally preference.i think i will never do a soil grow again for as long as i live, with the exception of maybe doing a few auto flowering strains that im thinking about running. its just to much effort to try and hand water over 30 soil containers, then trying to deal with the run off water.no thankssss. as far as checking ph and tds every day,it take less than 1 min of your time to stick in a hand held meter and get a reading. i spend about 5 mins in my grow room every day except when im changing my water, and that only takes about 10 min max, including mixing up a new solution whal the old stuff is pumped out doors into the garden.
I am a first timer using a deep water culture setup. I would suggest that to anyone who wants to start up. It is easy and relatively cheap. The plant just sits in a bucket of nutrients and the water is kept high until the roots touch the water line then you drop it down a bit. Then you just run an air pump with an air stone like in a fish tank. That will be easy but I can tell you that you will use a ton of water tho. I would invest in a Tall boy water system or something fast. I like the fact that when i change my water every 2 weeks, all i do is pour it down the toilet and thats it. The hyrdoton media is kind of a bitch to get rid of but i mix it in with the cats litter box shit and nobody is the wiser.
