Hello, Of course I am not knew to bud but I never thought I would have the opportunity to qualify for medical bud. I had a LARGE tumor removed from my head 2 months ago and got (what I think) is a valid paper that I need to be within the law here in Southern CA. I went the Smokeout Fest and got a paper stating it was a recommendation. I thought the medical cannabis license was ID like and looked like a drivers license? Am I missing a step that I am unaware of?
you are fully legal! The note from the doctor is ALL you legally need. :thumbsup: You can possess 8 ounces of bud and grow 12 immature, or 6 mature plants. The doctor can recommend larger amounts depending on the case- his/her recommendation trumps the local limits! :D
The card you are wondering about is OPTIONAL! I don't have one, even though I have been a medical user (legal and illegal) for over 40 years. The county card MAY possibly leave you open to various problems, but protects you from being hassled by cops (as long as you are within the limits, not dealing, not driving stoned, etc). If you are a "cop magnet", get a card. I'm a 62 year old grandmotherly type, so for me, it is a total waste of money!
Also, if you buy from a dispensary, they also have ID cards (free or a few bucks) to streamline the process. It IDs you as a legit customer. And the first time you go to a dispensary, be sure to go during your doctor's business hours! The dispensary WILL need to verify your recommendation on the first visit! No verification, no cannabis! :(
Dispensaries sell not only cannabis, but also clones- even in my backwater county (we now have 2 dispensaries open). Growing your own is the ONLY way to go! As soon as you can, try it!
You also need to start reading "Granny Storm Crow's list". Although the tumor you had was not cancerous (thank goodness!), the "Cancer- glioma/brain" section might provide some interesting reading. Just take a look. :) I imagine like most recreational users, you are rather uneducated about the medical uses of cannabis. Time to fix that! My list can give you the education you need. Even just reading the titles is eyeopening. :thumbsup:
