Lighting Q's Mh...Vs. Hps
1). Hey I am wondering with theses air vented hoods, I have heard the glass stops some your light rays and that from penetrating to your plants. Can someone explain this if its true or link it.Thanx.
2). And then my next question would be is it worth using the glass. Are their any benefits from the extra rays that are being blocked out.
A).Does it affect trich. production, bud density. I know that the lens is good for moving extra heat thrown off from your light.
3). I know that a hps will produce denser and more bud. But is it possible to still achieve decent yields wit just a Mh.?
A). I hear trich. production suppose to be crazy/better with a Mh is this true.
B). Lets just say we are comparing 400w hps to a 400w Mh, I know alot of stuff depends on grower an grow conditions.( IYO ).. What would be the average difference that theses bulbs would yield well in.?... Just trying to get a idea of how much of a difference it would make using a Mh vs. Hps.
Thanx for your time to stop in a fellow members thread and give your opinion.

Lighting Q's Mh...Vs. Hps
1. The glass is for protection from excessive UV rays. You have to decide if YOU need that protection. It can be harmful to the upper buds. I had to offset my plants some, to keep them from getting 'sunburn'. The reflector plays a big part, here. Not all reflectors are created equal.
2. The glass is useful for holding heat away from the plants...provided you are using an air cooled hood. Resin/trich production is more genetic, than light usage...IMO.
3. I've done grows with only HPS, and only with (C)MH....same strain, no major difference...except (C)MH plants are about a foot shorter....and a little thicker.
4. (C)MH - Ceramic Metal Halide
