SOS for a Newbie

so about 2 weeks ago, some friends came over to my house and gave me 3 plants that were about 3 inches tall, dark green/brown on the tips, & bent over.
i could tell (even tho it was my 1st time seeing plants in person) that they were Not healthy at all. i transplanted them after the brown went away into a larger pot (each plant was in a individual Peat Pot). they grew an additional inch or 2 and i now have them on a 18 hr light schedule with every other day fertilizing with 'Tiger Bloom' by Fox Farm. i check the Ph every 5 days so far and it has been a consistant 6.0. the plants are now about 5-6 inches tall and will be 3 weeks that i have had them on the 9/26. i know their growth was stunted by previous owner who abondonded them, so i expect them to be small and have a little yeild of buds, but i am growing for the expierence and the joy of it.
i am getting a armoire and modifying it for a discreet growing area. i have a HPS lucalox 100 but i dont have a lamp to put it in without a fire hazard. so i have been using a halogen lamp and a desk fan to keep them going for now.
so i guess what i am asking, is what do i do next, and am i doing everything ok?
