Dear M&M,
I can certainly understand your dilemma.Being in an apartment can be tricky for growing but not impossible.I understand that you have a very limited amount of money.Being on SSI is a rough way to pay your bills let alone figuring out a way to get your meds.To help I would need a little bit more info from you.How many rooms do you have in your apartment?Do you currently have any beans(seeds) to start with?DO you have any pots or lights yet(including florescents)they work just fine to start with. What kind of budget do you actually have to start with?..$20?..$50?.......we can get you started on little to nothing..I do have some beans that could get you started.Get back to me and let me know.Phil

ok...if you have a small closet to dedicate to a few plants ,that should work just fine. Also I am going to get on myspace and add you as a friend. Please keep in mind that you are going to want to(most likely) grow an indica strain, because of the ease in which to care for them as well as the height issue, not to mention the speed in which indicas finish as compared to sativas that(some strains) can take 4 to even 5 months and ususally require a lot of growing knowledge.$50 should be enough to get the basic supplies that you need. Here is a list of the few things you will need to strart.
1.Two or Three(depending on how many plants you are going to grow)two to 3 gallon plant containers with holes for drainage on the bottom.Cost is very cheap and you can usually get them for about 50cents a piece from a local nursery.Just ask them for the ones they get their plants in.They are usually black.
2.A bag of potting soil. This can be from any superstore(Walmart,Home depot etc) Just dont get the soil with added miracle grow(anything)I do not recommend using any of miracle grow products for cannabis(I will get into that at a later time) :-)..YOu shouldnt have to spend more than 5 or six bucks on this..also stay away from soil mixes that have a high content of peat moss as these tend to be to acidic for your experience.Get the general purpose potting soil mix and you will be just fine.
3.A couple of compact flourescent bulbs.Try home depot or walmart. You will want to find the bulbs that burn in blue or white to start off your seedlings and vegitate in.The warmer bulbs are for flowering and could cause your new seedlings to stretch. Not a good thing in limited space. Also look for the highest wattage that you can afford. This will most likely be your biggest expense for now.Try to get at least two bulbs to start off with.
4.Patience!Growing good meds takes time. There really arent any short cuts. You must be patient. :-)
5.After you have gotten those things in order you are gonna have to find a good (grow) nutrient.PLEASE DO NOT GET MIRACLE GROW,SCHULTZ,OR ANY OF THE OTHER SALT BASED NUTES!..this is very important and effects the way your meds burn and taste. There are many I can recommend. One of my favorite 1 part veg nute is called Iguana juice (grow) but getting nutrients is not going to be needed until about 3 weeks after you first germinate so dont worry about that just yet.
Let me know if you got any beans and what kind they are if you know.I will guide you through the germination process. You will only need to have the first 4 things on my list right away.Let me know when you need more help and any questions are welcome!
