Its absolutely gut wrenching for me. Maybe its just the ones that are in Connecticut, but they are some loud, pain in the ass, annoying, clicky bitch ass mother fuckers. Their song didn't quite team up well with my killer hangover this morning.

i live in Md and the cicada noise levels seem acceptable here.
The cicada's are loud here during the day...but, at night; you can't hear yourself think, for the noise the tree frogs make...it's much worse...:(
Not bad in NE Ohio, but it seems like a Eco system is rebounding here. Garden is slow because of a bee shortage,I am pollinating myself to get the eggplants to fruit.
be happy cicada's can still be heard at all is my opinion.
Back in the day we caught them and tied string to them, they buzz in circles like a miniture plane.
Here in south Mississippi, the cicadas are so loud in the evening that its almost deafening.
I actually like their sound... it brings me memories from old times that doesnt come back anymore...
My favorite time and place is a hot sweaty night, round 3am, with the preferably crickets but id settle for cicadas buzzing in the back round.
Makes me remember some real sweet evenings from high school;)
