snapped stem

hello!
3 days ago while checking on one of my females i noticed the stem was snapped about half way down and one of the tops was chewed off (stupid bambi) i took care of the deer problem, and i stuck a stick in the ground and used some kite string to tie the stem to the stick a little above and below the break..i came back today and all the growth below the break looks healthy but above it the leaves look a little droopy..not much just a little... how long does it take to recover and is what i did enough? i heard about putting honey in the cracks in the stem and taping it up with electrical tape...is this necessary or should i just leave it?

never heard about the honey thing. anything that will keep it together should suffice. just got to make sure that xylem and phloem can move, ya know?

if worse comes to worst, take the top and root it, then plant it.

what part is the xylem and phloem? is that the stem? it's not tied tight to the stick...the stem is pulling away from the stick so theres room for the stem to grow if it will...am i better off with tape to cover the cracks in the stem so it wont get infected? ive had breaks before but never on one of the main stems...last time it happened on an off-shoot i just stuffed the fan leaves from the broken stem into the rest of the foliage for support and a week later it formed a "knuckle" where the break was...

the xylem and the phloem are in the stem. it's the plants food supply system basically. it's how nutrients and sugars are moved around.

tape won't keep an infection out, although it might help a bit. as long as it's supported well, and the stem is together it should heal up fine, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
