Why Cannabis should be legal in all of the US...

This plant should not be illegal in the United States for these reasonsâ?¦

1. Itâ??s already used for medical use.
2. If we grow it ourselves it would cut down on the drug trafficking from other countries, because we grow it ourselves, and possibly do a â??One plant per householdâ?� option.
3. Have the United States government tax the hell out of it to help with the economic crisis.
4. It is not as addictive as cigarettes.
5. Compared to cigarettes, guns, and alcohol it is not hardly as deadly as all three combined.

Explaining why these things are important.

It is already used for medical purposes, as well it is a natural medicine, and it is not so potent as some pill medicines. Growing and taxing our own Cannabis crops, would help with the drug trafficking, because people wouldnâ??t need to buy it under the radar. The amount of people who already smoke Cannabis is so substantial that the United States would create jobs, money for the government, and there is a big market for it already, might as well put it on the stock market. In a 5x5 block radius, if there were 25 houses, most likely there is at least 10 of those houses selling this product, and the other 15 are smoking that product, as well as those 10. It is most definitely not as addictive as cigarettes, because if you ask a recovered heroin addict if cigarettes, or heroin was harder to quit, 99% of the time they would say it was harder to stop smoking cigarettes, then heroin. Yes Cannabis does have some of the same properties as cigarettes, and it probably will lead to some of the same problems caused my smoking, but how often do people smoke cigarettes?, because its so addictive. How often does a person smoke Cannabis in a day?, not as often as smoking a cigarette, thus it wonâ??t affect people hardly as bad, and not as fast. Commercials state that smoking Cannabis makes you lazy, boring, and you munch on food all day. That is because it is illegal. People stay at home, donâ??t go out, and donâ??t do many other things after they have smoked, because itâ??s a relaxing smoke, as well as they donâ??t want to be arrested. People with anger issues, mental issues, pain issues, emotional issues, social issues, and many other things wrong with them, this plant by smoking it helps with all these, wither it be to assist with the pain from cancer, calm a person down at work from the stress or being angry with their boss and not doing something to get fired, to being out and about and doing things you wouldnâ??t do, because your more care-free while not being too drunk to drive. When do you hear on the News, the most widely know TV special to hear about all the horrid things going on in the world, when, when do you hear that someone died in a car crash from being â??highâ?�?â?¦usually they are too drunk and cant drive. When do you hear that someone has cancer, because they smoked too much Cannabis? When do you hear that someone committed suicide or homicide, because when they got angry, or sad they smoked some Cannabis, and brought out the guns and ammo and went to town, or got out that razor blade, and started to cut themselves? You donâ??tâ?¦Iâ??m not stating that this is a miracle drug, or that people should stay off their meds just to smoke Cannabis, but what I am saying is that there is a big market for this plant and its use, and that the United States Government should take it as an opportunity to help with jobs and money for the US of A.
P.S.---IF all else fails, the government should do a say 2 year trial period of legalizing Cannabis for medical and non-medical uses. Make substitute laws that are by state made â??cigaretteâ?� wise, like smoking in doors, or something. Tax it, make â??Cannabisâ?� cigarettes, and see how it works out during those 2 years. Why I state at least 2 years is so that people can make a business of growing it outside, and not worrying about going to jail.

Also...if the admin could somehow make a "Vote yes or no" on this thread that would be awesome, the question for the Yes, or No would be.

I have to disagree with you to an extent. I'll be honest I didn't read that entire paragraph, it was to big and without any page breaks, very taxing on the eyes.

I feel the federal government should legalize or decriminalize it, however, I don't feel the individual states should be forced to change their own state laws. States who strongly oppose legalization should be free to keep their current laws on the books. I do not agree in forcing our will upon unlike-minded people, same as I do not like the FEDS forcing their will upon me.

I would also take it one step further and say it should be up to the states in determining what drugs, if not all, should be legalized. Although many drugs do lead to violent tendencies in some instances, that is not justification for strict laws. If someone takes y-drug and rapes or murders someone they will be charged with the crime they committed.

Seeing as the jails will be free of all these non-violent criminals, punishment for violent drug offenders can be much harsher.

Also a trial of two years wouldn't work. What entrepreneurs would want to open a cannabis shop knowing full well they may be shut down in two years? No intelligent businessman would risk is capital on something that is likely to be outlawed in two years.

Man, you summed it up nicely. There are myriad reasons the Establishment wants to keep it surpressed, mainly because it actually frees people and makes people realize and see through their fabricated world we live in.
