Yo whats up guys. I usually have a little problem with budworms after harvest and this year im spraying with bacillus to gain the upper hand. Does anyone know the best time to apply BT to get the most affective application? Morning? Night? I also was wondering how far into the flowering stage it is safe to use it? Would pyrethrum be better to use? My plants are just beggining to form their leaf clusters and early flowers. Thanks for reading braz!

As a general note, applying any pesticide to the actual flowers of the plant is a bad idea. If you are trying to take care of a plant issue you can try to catch them very early and kill them with Isopropyl alcohol, neem oil, or fish soap. If you want to get really fancy, you can try to introduce some predator insects that will leave your plants alone, but will feast on the little pests.

Ya for sure. Bacillus is a bacterium specific to caterpillars. It dosnt really seem to have any effects on the plant when sprayed. I just want to know when the best time to spray is, aka when the caterpillars are feeding.

Idk how to apply bacillus but I do know how it works because I studied it briefly during my january interim last year. Once Bacillus is ingested by an insect, the chemical effectively crystallizes the inside of the bug and pulls it all out the back...it sounds unbelievably painful, but then again I don't believe bugs feel pain. Try doing a google search on how to apply BT

No, they don't harm the plant - this microbe (BT) is always present in soil and therefore on plants...just the way it is in natureQuote:

You want to apply it at night because as soon as UV light reaches BT it starts to break down. It it only lasts for a certain amount of days so you have to reapply because it only kills young caterpillars Not the eggs, so while your killing the cats the moths are possibly laying more eggs which means it's an ongoing process of watching out for cats and applying BT.
