I have a 90W LED UFO and was thinking of adding a couple CFL's. Is it at good idea to do that? I know the more watts the better but was wondering about the different spectrems. Please recommend what CFL's are best. Advise would be much appreciated.

The UFOs are good in theory.. but junk in their current reality.
Go full CFL or small HPS
Flowering Spectrum:
2300K aka "Warm White"
Veg Spectrum:
6300K aka "Daylight"
Theres a 4700K in between called Cool White.. but it's mostly useless.
It should also be noted that CFL intensity drops off sharply with distance so they will need to be close to your plants
You don't think it's worth it to keep the LED and just add CFL's? Isn't it more watts per square foot the better??
more LUMENS per sq foot is better. watt is the rate of energy conversion. lumens is the a measure of the preceived power of light.
you want a minimum of 5,000 lumens per sq foot. the more the better!
if you already have the UFO then why not use it. it can be done. and definitely supplement with CFLs. like macro said, 6500K for veg, 2700K for flower.
you should start a grow log too!

I am attempting to do the same thing. I have the 90w UFO also and I was thinking of putting six, 23w, 1200 lumen, CFL's in the grow room during veg and 3 or 4 of the same bulbs during flowering. I am also going to get two Growpanel 45's from Sunshine Systems. Hopefully it won't be too much light, but I'll have to see ha
I bought the CFL's and will try to rigg something up here soon. I will let you know how it goes and what I exactly I did.
I will start a grow log, but first want to get these lights on my babies (who I hope are girls). Hopefully after I set up my log I can get some good advice to make what I am doing better.
trust me, you'll get plenty of readers with great advice, knowledge and experience once you start a grow long pertaining to LEDs. they are the hottest thing smoking these days.
