How Hard Is It To Qualify For Medical Marijuana In Hawaii?
I come from CA/OR/WA and all three are medical marijuana friendly. I am currently battling anxiety, depression, and suffer from ADD and back pain (from a severe car accident). I have been diagnosed ADD since I was a kid. I haven't been to the doctors for a few years (regarding my depression + anxiety + back pain) because I don't have health insurance. I have always heard that obtaining a medical marijuana card in CA is super easy. People would say that ANYONE could get one (even for stupid reasons as a girl having her period). I am hoping if a few knowledgeable ppl could enlighten me on how difficult it would be for me to obtain a medical marijuana card? I currently use it illegally, but it helps me survive the day-to-day problems I live in. Thanks =)

Hey guys I hope I don't take a lot of flak or anger anyone for this posting but I'm new to the big island with no health insurance to get a card and use marijuana for medical purposes and I don't know where to find any pot. I am older and conservative so I don't want to start asking on the street. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

Hawaii's medical marijuana requirements are not as liberal as California's. It covers HIV, cancer, MS and it does have a chronic pain category.
I don't think Kaiser doctors will give a medical marijuana recommendation, even if you have cancer. Generally, you have to go to a doctor outside the insurance network to get a card. The cost is about $150 + $25 for the license fee to the state government (who are really slow in processing applications at the moment. I have been waiting more than one month to get my renewal card).
Some doctors can be found at:

However, I am hearing rumors that Dr Jimenez is no longer coming to Hawaii.
Hope this helps.

Believe I will get my card tomorrow. but am I reading correctly that there are no dispensaries in HI? growing your own is the only option? That makes no sense. There has to be places that grow for those w/ cards, shit there is money to be made. Will Dr's office (despite saying they don't on their website) be able to be cool enough to get me to someone/somewhere I can buy after obtaining my card? Growing is not an option for me (has to do with where I live)

Good Luck with that. To find weed, you are on your own.
While cards are easy to get, most are given for cronic pain, if you are on Oahu you are kinda screwed. Big demand, small supply. And far too many thieves. Best to look into a small indoor grow for yourself. Or get used to getting small bags for big bucks.
Kinda sad, you have the best growing conditions in the U.S. and because of the punks you gotta grow inside.
For those of us on the neighbor islands, whole different story. Everybody is going legal. And there is a lot around. Big supply small demand. In the last two years a good oz cost 25% less here.
Kaiser will not give out MMJ recomendations. Period.

Thats the Reason why I left Home. I Love Hawaii, but Medical Marijuana is hard, unless you grow.I couldnt grow at my Parents house, I was staying with them when I hurt my back.I had to grab meds from the street and when they were busting farms back in 08,I remember prices at $500 an Oz.
I moved to Oregon and its Really Chill here.Lots of Aloha here and Lots of Herb.
So how did it Go Koonu75? You got it?
