Best Non-Smoking Method for Cancer

Hello everyone.

My mother was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. She was already depressed before the diagnosis, so things are not looking good.

For a couple of months she's been taking painkillers, like codeine, and now she's taking chemotherapy medication.

She's sleeping a lot, but she's weaker than ever. She says she's still in a lot of pain. Mom knows I smoke for depression, and although she always frowned upon it, she's willing to give it a try if it means less pain.

So I need to know the best non-smokable way that would benefit her, preferrably some kind of drink, like Tea.

So I really don't know much about cooking, but willing to learn, so what are the best recipes in your opinion?

Tinctures are easy to use and make. Fairly fast relief, too. Can be used as a mouth spray or drops. Easy to add to drinks but slower acting that way.

Tea- for the most part, don't bother. THC is not soluble in water. Some water soluble compounds do help with pain, but I think you Mom may need more than them. Teas have helped MS patients with their pain, though. The leftover cannabis from making tea still has the THC and can be dried and smoked.

Edibles- slow to come on (1/2 to 3 hours), but longer acting. My hubby gets MUCH better pain relief from my "magic muffins". Dosage is trickier because of the longer wait for effects, it is possible to get an unpleasant reaction if too much is eaten. However, once dosage is established, it is a good method.

It has tincture, canna-butter, drink recipes and a lot more. I am sure you will be able to find something that she will find acceptable. Canna-butter is always a good bet- you can slip it into many "normal" recipes.

Vaporizers- No smoke involved and MUCH easier on the lungs. No carcinogenic combustion products.

Rick Simpson's "Hemp oil"/ "Phoenix oil"- (This is NOT hemp SEED oil)- If this lives up to even half the hype about it, it is a miracle drug. Run a search- it would take me too long to explain the whole thing. I don't know if it works as well as claimed, but Rick honestly BELIEVES it does.

Well... the link Granny posted has indeed most of known cannabis recipes (and even some unknown ones)... but unfortunately it hasnt the fast way for making Green Dragon (a tincture made by dissolving weed in alcohol).

It is very powerful, despite its bad taste. Mixing it with something else for covering its taste helps a bit.

A thing that must be mentioned it that drinking/eating cannabis works better in an empty stomach, and usually doesnt work at all if the person drink/eat it with a full stomach.
Yet having a bit of food in the stomach is OK if one were to drink tinctures (which contain alcohol), because drinking alcohol with a completly empty stomach is not healthy at all.

Never sure if any one method of anything is right for a particular individual in anything...but I'll give you my insight.

I work with both a cancer group and a hospice group, smoking of any kind is never permitted in the first group and ususally not for the second either, scince most are using oxygen at that point. Edibles I have found are not usually an option here, patients can over do ingestion, and it is difficult to gauge how much of what ingestible is right for them. In your setting with your help in monitoring it can be a viable option.

We use vaporizers with excellent results, both in ease of use and safe to use. Even older folks adopt to it's use pretty quickly. It does tend to take some of the "couch lock" out of some indicas, especially if vaped slowly and taking brakes between a few draws. It will deliver all the anti-nausea, appetite stimulation and pain relief of smoking....without the combustibles and added co2.

Goodluck taking care of your mom at this time, she needs support from her family and friends. MMJ plus vitamins, minerals and nutrition can make a big difference in how she does. I'm keeping good thoughts for her and you.
