Need advise on Germ. seeds. just wont work...

Okay so let me begin, I have theses seeds i wanna say they may be round 3 years old. Now they were not stored in a fridge. I have tried to germ them by soaking them 12-24 hours then paper towel way. They did not germ so I tossed them out. Tried to Germ a few more without soaking and just the paper towel method... Was no good either. I then said tha hell with this an poped a few in the soil an that did not work. When I soak theses beans they float in the water for awhile.. Does that mean they are still good an I am screwin sumthin up.? Or is it really that out all theses seeds are just garbage.? Is there anything that I can do to get a possible germination.? I was told befor something about putting in freezer for a day, But not sure what that will do and if I should.? Any ideas will be appreciated.:thumbsup:

Hey KBG!

Nice to see you are starting your own project :jointsmile: That sucks about the seeds... I think your best bet is to put them in a mug with water and let them sit a couple days in there, or until they pop. Some seeds may take more than 24 hours to pop this way.

Still have a lot of those beans left? I think you've been around here enough that you could spend the money for some designer, even fem seeds if these don't work out. :twocents:

Carefully crack a few open and see if the inside of the seed is good. It should not be dry and hard, more like firm but will sqwish in between your fingers. Alive, you know when you open it. If they are good then maybe it's where you put them and how warm it is. Cold and no pop. Warm and pop just right. Too warm and turn to mush and rot.

roll the seed inbetween your fingers lightly, like 1 pound of pressure, if it makes any noise, it wont work............

Yo Bigtops thanx for stopping by, Ya after watching you and Frosted grow I decided what the hell lets see what I can do. Ya I still have a few of them beans left. See I have no problem spendin a few bucks on some beans, But I don't really have a place to send them to...(Caution is a priority). I told ya you made me decide to get some T.W when I find a place to ship to or sum1 I trust to send em. But I will try to soak them in a mug for few days an see what happens. Anything new happening on that end, Did you already move yet or you still got time.?


LOC NAR on probation.. Thanx I will try to open 2 of them and see whats really going on inside there. I do belive one time it did get to hot becauses it smelled rotted. I will try what ya said appreciate ya advise thanx.:thumbsup:



ForgetClassC... Depending on how many I have left I might try this with 1 bean. I have heard that you do not wanna try to pinch/roll/pressure tech. cause you can to easily damage the beans.

No problem! :jointsmile: Unfortunately I got nothing going on but packing for Amsterdam. Still thinking about picking up some White Russian Seeds at least. Maybe new equipment if I got the money. But that will have to wait until next year :( At least I can go try everything before I buy, and I got 5 months to do it. :D

Okay Bigtops that sounds like you got everything planned out now. I sure would like to see you cross a white Rhino with a Train Wreck. That would be a badass knock you on your ass smoke. What about some Chemdog you ever think bout trying some of Rez gear. I know its a lil spendy but hear it is well wourth every penny.:thumbsup:

I haven't been shopping around too much for seeds... there's just too much to choose from! Never tried Chemdog, to my knowledge anyways, but always heard good things about it :stoned: Now that I'm looking at it here, looks a little pricey. Since the most plants I can have at the same time is 6, I think I'll stick with mostly feminized seeds. I'll probably get a mix pack of fem. seeds from Greenhouse (maybe one of the sativa mixes), and originally wanted to get the regular W.Russian seeds.

I'm starting to get off topic a little bit, but since you did ask... I've also been thinking about just getting all fem WR seeds, and then force hermie a W.Russian with interrupted dark periods, and then collect the nanners for female pollen. Then I can make fem hybrid seeds from anything! At least, that's what I've been thinking about lately. If I had a room or two to dedicate to growing, I'd get all reg seeds. But since space and time are an issue, I'm thinking fem seeds might be a better choice for me after all.
