Does stress during veg cause males?
Does stress during the vegetative state possibly cause a plant to be male? I keep reading how a female can turn hermie but I have heard people also say that enviroment effects plant gender. Probably more specifically why I'm asking is I want to know if bending the plant, lst, topping, etc., could give me a higher chance of male. I like to know so I can be less concerned with how I "mess" with the plants.
On another slightly different note it seems that there is not a 100% agreement on if a seed is male or female or if it is determined by enviroment.

as far as the pre-determined genetic and the environmentally influenced sex of a plant, neither one has 100% control. Nature and nurture have effects on the matured sex of the plant.
I am unsure if a female seed can turn completely male, however, it CAN turn into a hermaphrodite. Do some reading on proper LST technique and if you buy regular seeds and get a male, chop it down unless you plan on breeding.

Higher temps during veg will lead to more males.

Higher humidity and lower temperatures will yield more females up to a 80/20 ratio.

When you say high temps do you mean plants that are wilting due to heat, or does that apply to a plant that is otherwise healthy even though it's extremely hot.

A female seed can not turn male and it can not turn male hermie because of genetics. It can hermie with nanners but then your back to female seeds. This is because female seeds are the last chance an MJ plant has to save the species and genetically it is all female.that's why all female seeds.
Alot of thing determine the sex. For one, is spacing. A study showed how MJ plants that were kept less than 12 feet apart had a higher ratio of females. They can sense each other. Over 12 feet way more male. This was a polination point. One male can polinate a whole group of females.
When we try to keep all females as we do any stress can make one turn hermie just to save the species. Nature amazies me with how much it can control what we think we can control.

This is absolutely true, chemosensory is an amazing thing. The human body has the same ability. We can sense things even when we aren't consciously aware that we are near them. Allergies are a great example of this.

I have found that when I germinate seeds in winter and put them under MH I get more females than when I germinate in spring and put under the light in summer temperatures.
When temps get above 90F in my closet the plants quit growing and basically just survive.
Extreme temps in the last 3-4 weeks of flower cause hermies.

I've read your posts and I understand what you all have to say. But it seems there is no agreement on the subject because some are saying a female seed cannot turn male, but some say it depends on the conditions. I understand if you all don't agree I just want to know how science puts it.
