E-Source water pH - 7.6 or So, PH'd down to 6.8 with Vinegar for watering

E-Age of plant - 21 Days from seed, probably 17 days above soil
E-Type of fertilizer - None - Super Thrive
E-Rate of application - Watering Every two to three days
E-Lighting source and distance from plant - Metal Halide 175 Watt - 14 Inches ; Just moved them to be 7" from light Today
E-Air temperature - 73-79
E-Air % Relative humidity - 47%
E-Lighting schedule - 18/6
E-Type of ventilation your room has - 80 CFM Inline fan, also Fan blowing directly on plants

Hello all! Long time no see. But I am back in the game, and attempting my second grow, this time with bank seed, a lowryder mix pack and Northern lights. I am growing in a white closetmaid cabinet that is about 2.5 feet wide and 6 feet high. I seem to be having some issues with the older seedlings. The wilted plant, a lowryder, wilted when it was fairly light in the pot and dry. It did not perk up with watering, so I have been letting it dry out, and it has remained wilted. Also I noticed the tips browning a bit and lower leaves beginning to yellow or streak. On the northern lights seedling, it is perky, but also beginning to show signs of yellowing. My younger seedlings are even beginning to yellow on their beginner leaves and showing really slow growth, even though they are only 7 days behind the other two plants. Ph measured with a digi milwaulke meter.

does the hyponex have any nutes in it?

also, the pH is on the high side. 6.3 is ideal.

are you getting adequate drainage? are you sure that's 35% perlite/vermiculite? it might just be the pics.

the cotyledon, the round leaves you refer to yellowing basically are food storage for your seedling.

Hi Shake,
I dont believe the soil has any nutes added, but in the process of googling that, I discovered an article talking about the poor quality of that particular soil. I mixed in the perlite and vermiculite pretty heavy, I was aiming for a 3:1 soil/perl-verm ratio but may have ended up closer to 2:1. I should be ph'ing the water down to 6.3 ? When I water the plant, alot of water drains out of the bottom fairly quickly, unsure if that is adequate or not. Plants are also in 4" pots, I have some 6" pots for their next replant. I think I will end up hunting down some higher quality soil for that though.. Thanks.

i would pH down closer to 6.3.

the drainage sounds good.

i'd skip the six inch pots and go something bigger. not a whole lot of upgrade there. you're just gonna end up transplanting again pretty soon.

you could use some nutes. what kind and which ones pretty much depend on what you want to spend.

Just gotta say here your right. Hyponex is crap, you get what you pay for here.

I have Alaskan fish for Veg, but had been holding off on hitting them. If people think the older plants are ready, I can begin with a 1/4 strength.. Just concerned about the drooping more then anything, I am not sure if that is from a deficiency or PH imbalance or what. The run off of 8.4 doesn't seem high? I'll skip to larger pots and find some higher quality soil.

i'd say hit them with the nutes. a nitrogen deficiency will show first in the older leaves. they will turn yellow and possibly die. they've been alive for almost three weeks with nothing but water and the food stored in the cotyledon.

your pH does sound a bit out of whack. when was the last time you watered? you might want to check on the roots. they aren't rootbound are they?

Alright, hit them with a weak dose of fish emulsifier ph'd down to 6.3. I don't believe they are root bound as the plant doesn't really solidly tug out the dirt in the pot. When I have transplanted in the past, the dirt clump held its shape better when getting it out of the pot when they seemed ready.. Guess there is something to be said for clear containers with tape on them for pots.
