drug screen question

I need to take a pre-employment drug screen in the next few days for my summer job. Fortunately, I get to choose which day I take the test. How reliable would it be for me to take an at home test tomorrow morning on my first void of the day and shoudl I get a negative result go to the testing facility within the next few hours? Mind you I have been clean for 23 days and am a very infrequent smoker (probably 3 times in the last 60 days). I am afraid to cause unneccesary suspicion with the dillution method but will do it if necessary.

On a side note...my job allowed me to begin working without completing the required drug screen and have told me that I won't get my paycheck until I have passed the drug screen. Should I fail the test can they legally withhold the money I am owed?

I would recommend that you take the test. That way you know. Everyone processes THC metabolites at different rates but from your post you sound as if you may be OK depending on when your last time smoking was. The more time without smoking the better. You have the right idea by testing your morning void, if you are clean then you should be fine later in the day. 40 oz. of gatorade wouldn't hurt to be on the safe side.

As far as your paycheck question, I do not believe that the Co. can withhold your paycheck until you pass a UA also whatever your result they must pay you for your time worked. They are within their rights to terminate your employment if you do not pass their drug screen.

Like insomniasucks said, THC metabolizes at different rates for everyone. However, because you smoked so infrequently, you should be ok. Everything I have read says it takes an average of 5 days for the metabolites to clear for someone that smokes as much as you. If I were you, I would order some home tests to settle my mind. They really aren't that expensive. I got mine from meditests, and got them in 2 days with their normal shipping. Your gonna have to google them because its against forum rules to post a link. Home tests are just as sensitive as the immunoassay they use in the lab for your UA. If you test positive on your home test, follow the dilution sticky on the drug testing forum. however, I wouldn't dilute unless you have a few days. Reason being, one of the main things they look at while checking for adulteration (dilution, substitution, cleansing aids, etc) are your creatinine levels. It takes 2-3 days for your body to metabolize creatine into creatinine, and if your levels are too low its a dead give away that you diluted your urine. I had to take 8 creatine pills a day, which is 5. something grams (don't have a calculator on me at the moment) to keep my level high enough after dilution. I'm 5'7" and 125 lbs, so you will have to adjust to your weight. Post on here when you get the lab results!

I think your drug screen questions were answered correctly. Only thing i have to add is they will only fire you if you fail the U.A.. Me of all people at one time was in charge of U.A. 's for the company i worked for and in this state we only gave Piss tests because our Workers Comp. ins as well as some of our other insurances were cheaper. If i wanted to hire you sometimes i would make you take the test on your pay period. That was my choice because i didnt like the fact i had to give them as well as it was never stated to me when to give it but only i had to give them. Sometimes it would be three weeks before you would get your piss test. I dont know your employers motive but mine was to help a person get clean just in case he needed more time. My belief was i dont care what drugs you were useing as long as you did a good job for the company and didnt bring or do drugs at work. If you really wanted to work at the company i was working for you would make sure you pissed clean and if you pissed dirty i figured you really didnt want the job bad enough because i had no choice but to let you go but under law its very much illegal to hold a persons pay for almost every reason. There could be cases it could be held but not U.A. failure. I also had to get a U.A. for injuries and i hated i had to do it but once again the system of insurance crap made the rules that i had to follow even though i thought it was totally wrong. If i liked an employee and i had a feeling he smoked weed i would put that U.A. off as long as i could and i would remind a person that when he gets well he would be tested, i tried to help folks out. Some companies will test you the same day your injured but i thought this was the wrong way to do it especially when a guy was in pain. I also could offer you re-hab if you failed if you wanted to keep your job. We set up a 2 week couciling thing you could attend to keep your employment. I could not afford to let go a great person for a weed positive . Most companies abuse the piss tests because they are uninformed or the person who is in charge of the tests is an asswhipe. There are ways for companies to be easier on these tests but they are just as corrupt and stupid as the insurance companies. We didnt do randoms because there are way to many ways to run into legal troubles that would take me forever to explain all of them.
