Fox Farm nutes.
I just purchased a bottle of FF Big Bloom and FF Grow Big. Is it absolutely necessary to use Tiger Bloom as well or will I be ok using the two that I purchased?
If FF Big Bloom is lacking something that is needed for flower can I substitute it with something other than FF Tiger Bloom as I am trying my best to keep costs low. So far, it is not working.
I will be adding molasses as well.
Thank you for any help that you can offer.

the fox farm linueup was designed to work together. i'm not saying that it won't work, it just won't work as well.
big bloom has an NPK (macro nutrients) of .01-.3-.7 and contains no micro nutes or trace minerals.
tiger bloom on the other had has and NPK of 2.0-8.0-4.0 as well as the micro nute magnesium (.5), and the trace minerals boron (.02), copper (.05), iron (.12), maganese (.06) and zinc (.05).
so as you can see there are many things necessary for your ladies that big bloom doesn't have. you are gonna pay $5+ for some cheap nutes to try to make up for this which might do more harm then good.
if i were you i would just pick up the tiger bloom.

Thank you very much for the explanation. I guess I will have to make another trip to the store. Would hate for it to turn out like last time, light and airy.

you are welcome.
what kind of lighting are you using?

I have 8 27 watt (100 watt equiv.) 1400 lumin daylight (blue) cfl's and 4 smaller cfl's (left over from first attempt, I think they are red spectrum) in there. I will be swapping out the 8 larger ones during flower for 8 red spectrum ones, same wattage.
I think it should be enough. I have three sprouts (inch tall) and hope for at least one to be female, two would be nice. Bag seed.

U are probably gonna want more lumens for flowering, this could be another reason ur buds were light and airy. a good reference is about 100 watts per plant. look into hps. peace.

I am not sure how many lumens the red spectrum lights will be. I don't have them yet but would imagine something close. Right now I have 120 watts (cfl) equiv is close to 500w per plant, not sure which one you are referring to.

CFL watts. CFLs in general give you light and airy buds.
how big is your grow space? i would more worry about lumens/sq ft. you want at least 5000 per.
if you can afford and HPS and the cooling needed to go with it then by all means this is the way to go!

I have a (using round numbers) 2(L) x 2(W) x 5(H) space. Right now I have roughly 12,400 lumens. For one/two plants do you think I will need more. Or maybe just more during flower?

12,400 lumens / 4 sq feet ( 2 x 2) = 3100 lumens per sq ft. this will veg your plants, but you would get better growth with more lumens. same thing goes for flower.
keep in mind that the 5000 lumens per sq ft is a minimum. the more lumens the better!
i would say at the minimum step them up for flower.
