The future of doubt and faith
I'd like to start a constructive discussion limited to clear, logical arguments. I'd like to encourage people to try not to post here while under the influence of psychoactive substances to avoid not making sense.
YouTube - Sam Harris Freethinker the way forward.
Non-believers and believers, please defend your position. If you believer there's a heaven, for example, I feel it's your duty to let me know about it, because I don't believe in such a place. If I felt I had such a secret, there's no way I wouldn't dedicate my life to telling people. Please don't be shy. If you have the truth, spread it, but be aware that you can be flat out wrong without having a clue.

First time i"ve heard of him. He's very articulate which is what athiests need to help get our ideals across to the general public. Me, I'm a little more outspoken than he. I believe religion is truelly a form of insanity. Absolutely no proof that any of this exists but yet people want to believe so much that they're not alone, that there is a land of peace waiting for them when they die. If you want peace, quit stalling, its got to be here and you have to start fighting for peace while your alive. Stop all the hate and fear mongering. Take the time to get to know people and see life through there eyes once in a while.

Thats why so much religious people spends their entire lifetime preaching... and yet most (if not all) of them are disliked for doing this...

If we replaced the name "God" with "Truth," and then be honest with ourselves, I think everyone (atheist or believer alike) could agree that a "Truth" exists. We could also honestly say that we don't know the entire truth, whence it came and where it goes but know it exists, its not relative.
Beyond space, time and all of our concepts that we have created in this world (which is the source of suffering) lies Truth. Truth was true at the Big Bang and Truth is true now and forever. Jesus Christ is my personal savior because of the unconditional love that he tried to teach us about, not because of the very human egotistical organized religion that followed him. Jesus was anti-establishment, a rebel with a cause. A message to debunk the pharisees monopoly on moral superiority.
So... I identify God with Truth and Love with Truth because I feel it, not because I can prove it scientifically. Having said that, I understand the confusion about how a loving God could allow such suffering in this world. My only reply to that is that it is the collective Son of Man who, given free will, has chosen the good and bad in this world. Free will is God's gift and we have used it unwisely to pursue bodily pleasures and forget our Identity in God. If I want to cut my wrists, God will not stop me. Is He cruel then? Free will is a bitch sometimes. Ultimately I think we will grow up, stop seeking ourselves through self satisfaction and realign with the wholly loving Spiritual Truth, God. This is the everlasting Peace and Joy that is our inheritance for all who seek Truth (that includes atheists too). Thanks, MH

Pure rhetoric.

I believe more people confuse their agnosticism with athieism. One only has to look at science and the laws of physics to know there is some order to the nature of things. One, the law of polarity, the law of gravity, etc. we are just at the beginning of understanding it all. There is no guy in the sky writing down a daily journal nor heavenly tribunal. Outside of that who really knows. Most have had at least one unexplanable incident in their lives, some even more. There is something greater then us humans. On that we can all agree. I believe man creates and has created his own gods and mythologies surrounding the same only as social and moral guidelines for the survival of the species, or group but also exploitable through the gullible. :twocents:

Thats a big word, are you sure you know what it means? I disclosed that my faith is of personal experience and not anything I could prove, does that make it meaningless to you? Surely one who peruses the spirituality forums has thoughts of their own on the matter and could allow themselves freedom of expression.
Thanks, MH:)

The question for me is,"Is there a Creator?" My experience of unconditional love in my process of searching for the answer to this tells me unequivocally "yes." The point I was trying to make is that no matter how we have personified "God" in our own minds, no one can claim to know the whole truth. However, we might agree that Truth does exist though beyond our ability to recognize it. That Truth is my God because I believe that that Truth is Love and that we were created out of Love. The suffering in this world is of our egos running amok. Freewill is a bitch sometimes, eh? Thanks, MH:)
