Keeping temperature down?

Hi guys I just built a relatively small, sealed grow box out of a large plastic container. I've lined it with space blanket, cut a hole on top where I've placed my 4" inline outflow fan and carbon filter that I've made. When I close the container, turn the light and fan on, it will soar to about 90 degrees. I want it closer to 80, right? (what temp do you guys normally have?)

Any ideas for what to do? For now I'm just leaving the entire assembly open during light cycles and closing it before the dark. I need to fix this before they start to reek though so my carbon scrubber can do its job!

Anyways...the answer is you either need a cootube + additional inline fan for it, or get a stronger exhaust fan. Cooltubes advertise up to 10 degree drops in room temps, so that might be the way to go :thumbsup:

I don't know what your light cycle is but lights on during the night when temps are cooler is a good idea and off during the day when temps are usually higher.:hippy:

Ideal temp is 76 - 78 degrees F.

That said, my bloom area has been running approx 83 degrees the last few days due to it being hot and sticky where I live. (I haven't turned on my a/c yet as we're heavily wooded and using attic fan) I'm using differing combos of 150w and 250w HPS lamps.

The ladies don't like the temp geting much above 82 and at 85 or more, the blooming action pretty much stops, which is counterproductive.

My suggestions to you:
1. Upgrade your fan to at least 6" and add additional intakes or increase size of existing intake(s). The 4" inline fan will never move enough air to cool an HPS in that small an area - I don't care what size the lamp is.
2. Make the room cooler if possible. What is the ambient temp of the room where the grow box is located? That plays a huge part in keeping your temps down, especially when using a small HPS without additional bulb cooling (cool tubes, fans and venting, etc).
