First Grow...advice ?

Hey all, this is my first MJ grow and jus looking for any pointers, i am however limited. Living with my girlfreind who strongly disagrees with the cultivation of cannabis, it has to be hidden, but instead of a closet grow, i decided to plant up beside my existing salvia divinorum (great herb for those who havnt heard of it...look into it ;-)) and hope she isnt the observant kind.

The set up consists of 2 x 24W 6400K CFL, 1x 20W 2600K CFl, 1 x 30W flouro tube. Not the brightest... but its grown the salvia perfectly fine =/

Ok, so i went into town to pick up some seeds. Was after Northern Lights but the local smoking shop was fresh out...no suprises. I was looking through the selection of other seeds when the owner said she had some 'home made' "Afghan #1" seeds, and would sell 20 for £12 (about $20.) I was uncertain because i hadnt seen any grow logs of "afghan #1" and because of their home made origin...but i bought them anyway.

Popped 3 seeds in a shot glass, and within 12 hours the tap roots were exposed and so i planted em up, in potting soil and perlite. 2 days later the seedlings were visible, and i was suprised about the 100% germ rate, maybe these home pollinated seeds wouldnt be as sh!tty as i thought! =P

So anyway, its bin 9 days and the 3 seedlings are still alive..one looks a little deformed, but ther is some new growth coming through. Pics of set up and plants are below!

Am just slightly concerned about the speed ther growing, seems rather slow, but maybe thts a characteristic of this afghan strain, i dont know. So..yeah any advice?

Maybe i should bin the two weaker plants n just focus the light onto the stronger plant?

First Grow...advice ?

salvia likes the shade and shouln't receive but 3 or 4 hours of direct morning or afternoon sun and do not like any strong direct sunlight.

cannabis likes all the sun you can throw at it.

so you might want to do some more reading. perhaps you should start here.

Howdy, and welcome. You should think about finding somewhere else to grow if your s/o does not approve.

well, ive bin growin salvia for a few years under those lights, and outdoors in a greenhouse that recieves nearly full sun all day. Its like a jungle :)
Remembering however that over in the u.k the sun isnt as hot..so maybe that has something to do with it... but yeah anyway.

Ive done ALOT of reaserch into cannabis growing and i know my set up is no way ideal...but its the best i can do atm, so its really more of an experiment to see if it will grow under these conditions. Even if i cant flower the plant i would be happy to get a few nodes of growth tbh!

i never said that your conditions wouldn't work for salvia, i was merely telling you what your plants like. so if you plan on growing cannabis and salvia together it woulnd't be recommended.

you want a minimum of 5000 lumens/sq ft. i don't know the lumens of your bulbs. so add that up and divide by your square feet.

also, your plants are gonna be putting off more water into the air. salvia likes humidity over 50%. this will be fine for vegging your cannabis, but it can cause molding during flower.

why not grow the cannabis in the greenhouse?

you should not put multiple plants into one pot. the roots can become tangled and the plants will fight over nutrients.

You may want to rethink this whole thing if you are going to be hiding it from your girlfriend ... nothing good can come of lying to her. And I think you will find the plants are WAY different come the end, so unless she is really really oblivious then she is probably going to notice.

Just my two cents.

Yeah, i doubt she will notice cos its in my "special room" were i like to relax and things... and over the years she has just stopped going in ther. So i think she would have to be looking for it to find it really!

shake- okay thanks, n yeah i would move them someplace else to flower. I would grow in the greenhouse but again i dont think its hot enough were i live, its midsummer atm n pissing down!

Yes ive moved them into two seperate pots now, so i should expect them not to grow much for a few days cos of shock? But it is the same soil so shouldnt be too bad... decided to kill the smaller deformed plant, its third set of leaves were still all folded n deforemed.
