venice to san diego

Hello everybody, I hope you are all very well.
I am Van i'm from London. My buddy and I will be in California on june 16th for around a month, just generally sitting around on beaches. Starting in Venice then making our way down to SD on no particular schedule and basically going on a smoking tour of the coast which sounds good no? Anyway, me being as inquisitive as I am was wondering what the best way would be to find some of this amazing bud you can only get in Cali? I realise I am not eligible for mmj card but surely its not that hard to meet nice californians who would let me buy them a beer or five? very easy going, friendly chaps with amusing stories for you from the cold ass city streets of LDN :)
