Commonsense should tell them spending trillions isn't a good solution to get the economy going again too. Commonsense however, isn't the governments strong point. Aside from our military, I don't think the federal government has gotten much right since the early 1900's. Income tax was nonexistent until 1913.
It should be up to each state to determine if cannabis use will be legalized, in what instances (medical and/or recreational), etc.
A Flat Federal Income tax is the only fair tax. IMO.
You don't need a 931 page tax codebook.... you make $70,000? ...pay 20% flat tax.....you make below a certain amount?..no tax

DutchPimp, what about the households who's disposable income is less than 5% of their total income; in english that means after living expenses they are left with squat. As opposed to a household with a $1,000,000 net income, and $500,000 in net expenses: this is a clear shifting of the burden to lower income households.
In the situation described above, income mobility, the ability to move up the income ladder, will be greatly diminished as savings/credit are inproportionally fixated on the "everybody is equal" theory.
