looking for strain advice

I have a spinal injury and looking for some relief for both neuropathic pain and muscle spasms. The number of Strain choices are overwhelming and I'm really only looking for pain relief, so strength is not important to me. Actually, I'm looking for something incredibly mild that would allow me to function in an intense graduate program with minimal pain. Also, are there ways to titrate doses for long-term effects. Please excuse my amateur questions but I'm not really sure where to begin. Any thoughts?

an indica strain would be best for general pain, and nerve pain/spasms ... but, it also makes you sleepy, and studying will likely be difficult ... Northern Lights, Master Kush, etc., may be good choices ... potent, but not devastating ... for long-term dosing, using cannabis in a brownie, cookie, etc., takes about 2 hours to kick in good, but usually lasts 4-5 hours, with most people, it seems ... I have had excellent results from smoking pot, with nerve pain/spasms, and depression :thumbsup:, but, I'm not involved with 'intense studying' ... posting this reply, is about as difficult as it gets :D

The Image Reaper knows whats up!:) Some other strains you might wanna try are Purple Kush, Sour Diesel, OG KUSH...Also purple indica strains pack a good pain relieving punch and dont make you wanna crash out and they taste berrylicious:) But I'm sure you'll find your fav med strain

The Image Reaper has it right; indcas/and indica dominate strains have the most potential for pain control. I currently grow White Rhino and a NLxHawian for medical mj use and are the current mainstays.

I work with a cancer group (people fighting the disease and treatments) and a hospice group (people who are dying) and smoking of any kind is frowned on, so all patients start with vaporizers. (hospice patients I can usually get a waiver to allow thier smoking of joints, later).

Possibly try vaping an indica, it will allow you to vape a little and do things like read or study and to come back to it whenever you want. It's what me and my housemate (stage 4 cancer) do when home for awhile during the day; I fill the whip, put it on the vape and draw on it till I feel a little better, go do things around the house or outside and when I start feeling a little discomfort or pain I go back to the vape and do a little more.
