transplant problems...

Hello all, I will start from the beginning.

I had some plants. I flowered them for 2 weeks. Found the best female. Took many clones. Put them in homemade aerocloner. Grew roots out pretty long. they were about 6-9 inches long. but the clones didnt really grow along with the roots. I then transplanted them to dirt. "happy frog"

Now on day 2 dirt, they are all wilting. temps are good. humidity is good. fan is blowing on them. and they are under 400mh that is about 6 feet above them. on a light mover. (they were under same light/height in the aerocloner.)

What did I do wrong? the soil is wet. I did not give them nutes.. I might try that tonight. I have foxfarms grow big. Did I let the roots get too long before I transplanted? Im just so confused. Im thinking of just starting over.... with seed. any clues? :(

I'm unsure of your actual process, but!

After transplanting your new clones into a new medium, I recommend keeping them in the same lighting for a week.
They will be a bit stressed, just keep it to a minimum :)

ya there under same light, same conditions, except now there in soil.
man they are totally limp though..

But the soil is wet.. Should I water again with some nutes?

If you let them go too long in cloner the roots become hydro roots. That is a bit different than soil roots. Maybe the problem. Too much stress trying to change. And your soil is too wet.

Never nute a stressed cloneling.

After transplanting into soil, the roots need to adjust. Ease-up on the fan action, raise the lights a tad, and treat them like unrooted clones till established. (provide a humid enviornment)

Do not keep soil soaking, and don't keep spraying the leaves. This will cause mold, mildew, and possible root rot. Best to spray the dome or cover...or whatever you are using to keep the humidity levels up.

Dude my clones did the same thing when I put them in soil. They perked back up and started growing after a few days to a week or so. (Don't really remember the time frame.) I was stressing out about it a lot but I've read some people saying that all clones do this. So maybe they will be all good! :jointsmile:

Hmmm... wow hydro roots.. Ive never heard this. The roots do look thin long and wispy. I did not water them. no nutes.The only water was at transplant time. 90 percent are totally wilted now. This is looking more and more like a "no go"
Im thinking I left them in the cloner way too long. How long should one leave them in a cloner? How long should the roots be till I would transplant to dirt? Also Im thinking I left the mother in flower too long till I took clones.

p.s. I will turn fan off tonight.

You can take clones up to 2-3 weeks in flowering, not advised, but you CAN do it. You obviously got them to root so taking them from a flowering mom isn't your problem. You see when you take a clone that is in flower it just could take longer for it to develop roots. Hydro roots? Never heard of them, but 6-9 inch roots are damn long. I put mine in soil right when the roots start getting secondary growth.

So maybe you think we have narrowed down my mistake?
It was that I left them in the cloner too long.


I got them rooted right away, maybe a week. but I left them in the cloner for maybe 3 weeks... roots got thin, and went all the way to bottom of the large Rubbermaid.

One more question please. Why did the clones seem not to grow? From the second I cut them, till now, the greenage never moved. But the roots were growing strong though. I assumed this was because they were still semi in flower. But im not sure. Could I have stunted them or something. or am I over thinking this?
