i'm going to visit washington state in a few weeks. i live in soCal. i will be sending my clothes ahead probably via UPS. if i stash some weed in the box is there any way for them to detect it. i'll only take about a gram or so. also whats the best way to wrap it, so no sniffer can detect it, if they use anything like that

Former UPS employee here. I think dogs are primarily used on overnight shipping. It is more cost effective to bring a dog into an overnight sorting facility and position it in a location where hundreds of thousands of packages from around the country are going to pass by. Even at that, it is the government that brings in the dogs not the company (slows down operations) and it isn't used that often. But I still wouldn't do it.
Normally I would say that ground shipments are the way to go however, keep in mind that you have broadcast your criminal intentions to the world with your post and ya never know who might read it. It would not be hard to run a dog past every UPS trailer that enters Washington from southern California for the next few weeks.
Stick it in you pocket or in your underwear.
Man I suggest just go find your nearest bar or skatepark, depending on your age, and get some weed. Don't fuck around with shipping weed and the feds and all that. Not worth it.
if ur only shipping a gram itd be tough to pick up for a dog. if the feds are the ones who bring dogs in they are looking for a lot more than a gram and probably would stop the shipment instead of locating the sender or reciever
