oh my god here we go again

does any one here no the history of how pot became illegal in the USA? this is how it was explained to me:

first the gov't started taxing the farmers and the buyers to the point that it became unprofitable to grow harvest and sell there by making a plant only to be used by the "mexican and negros". that was when it became a racial issue and instepped henry j. bringing the whole thing to a head by making people beleive that they were going to be attacked and their daughters raoed by pot heads. then its made illegal.

in a nutshell

what im getting at is this it all started with taxation. last week a 65 cent per pack tax was placed on cigerattes. the end of the month LA congress is trying to put a 1 dollars sales tax on cigerettes that will make a pack of smokes here almost $6. now i know alot of people here may be nonsmokers and i respect that. but lets see this will be one more plant that is on its way to being outlwed by the feds. my mom dont smoke pot but she dont want it illegal either, get it.? if i want to have a cigerette by god i should be able to. but it all starts with a tax.

now let me ask this: right now taxes on cigerrtettes are almost $4 a pack say 1 million people smoke a pack a day. thats $4,000,000 a DAY in taxes. multiply that by 7 now multiply that by 52. what a little over $1.4 billion annualy and that only averaged at 1 million pack a day smokers. theres probly somewhere in the neighborhood of 70 million in the country.
now ask yourself this 300 million total, a huge tax burden taken on by only 70 million. when all of us decide that it to much to pay where will the gov't recoup its lost revanue?

by that logic, gasoline is on it's way to being illegal, since most places tax gasoline by the gallon.

A tax is a tax. Criminalization is criminalization, one is not a direct indicator of the other.

the thing about gas is that there is no racial stigma or some group of do-gooders tellin me they are out lawing gas because it is a danger to my health and those around me. but since it is also an "evil" weed that must be eradicated from the country so that our children will not be raped.

the fact is that like i said not everyone in this country smokes or relies on tobacco to get back and forth to work, sdchool, vacation, etc. or to make the products such as PVC and plastics from.

we havnt outlawed gas from public places but there are very few places that will let you have a smoke.

like i said yes i do smoke but i also respect any non-smokers rights. im not going to smoke in your house or car or in a resturant. i do beleive there are certain places that you shouldnt be aloud to smoke. but the propaganda has turned public oppinion against tobacco and the tobacco industry to the point that noone has the balls to complain when the shit finaly starts to roll. like i said earlier the taxes were levied to the point that the farmer quit growwing now there is no farmers no ones livly hood is going to be ruined by the outlawing of a plant, when noones livly hood is ruined then nobody bitches a bout it and we all think its for the good of the country.

no matter how big a tax is if the industry is profitable, and as we all seen the past couple years the oil industry is making lots and lots of money. so of course they will not be outlawing gas anytime soon. so to destroy an industry you have to make it first unprofitable and the way the gov't will and has done so in the past is by taxing said industry.

but to me this whole tobacco thing stinks of henry anslinger and the do gooders that gave us prohibition.

Racism was big reason why they outlawed cannabis. Them damn uppity s were smoking it in there jazz clubs getting them white whores high and boning the shit out of them.lol Thats the real reason it was banned. Just like the more svere penalties they have put on one of the unmentionables, because blacks were using it because it was a lot cheaper than the powder the honkies were using.lol So much racism and intolerance in our society. We really do have a terrible history but nobody seems to want to discuss it.

the best soil to grow herb inis ironically also the best soil to grow tobacco in. my family comes from the mountains of kentucky. they were largly tobacco farmers, and still are ( so you can also see why the prohibition of tobacco hits quite close to home for me) the average tobacco farmer is the poor dirt farmer. not some huge coorporation.
my family also grew hemp till it became non profitable to grow. then it was outlawed they didnt quit because "wild packs of negros and mexicans were using it" but because the taxes were so high they couldnt profit.

I agree. In Aus they are raising the tax by 50 cents twice a year.
I'm growing my tobacco next year anyway hopefully and cutting down a bit.

Also racism isn't why they made ganja illegal. That was the excuse.
It's because they had a vested interest in synthetic fibers. Anslinger was supported by DuPont and pharma so clearly they wanted hemp and ganja gone.
So first in 1937 the tax was passed then.... you know the rest. I'm not gonna rant again, gotta sleep.

this taxation on cigarettes actually hurts the economy. the money is taken and wasted by the government instead of being used in the private sector to create jobs. washington doesn't understand economics.

hahaha. that is true.. But I mean really how many deaths has Marjuana caused? 0 and how many deaths a day does alcohol cause? shit I dont even know the number its so up there.. I mean dont get me wrong, LSD and Acid and Heroin cocaine and crack are illegal because they actaully cause deaths.. And with the cigarette issues.. I cant even buy a good pack of ciggarettes with 5 dollars anymore.. I mean I remember when Marbrols used to be like 3.78? or something like that..
