Idk if this is really a problem, But a friend of mine has plants 2 weeks in to flowering with nice little buds, (You can even see the thc on the leafs).
Now my plant is almost two weeks in, And there is white hairs every where, But I cant see any thc and there isn't any buds.
But he also uses a 400 watt hps, Im using cfls.
So my question is I guess, Does the lights play a big role on it.
Or is mine just a late bloomer.
Could be Sativa Dom. and have smaller buds but more trippy head high. The lights will have a factor for sure. I use CFL also, but a HPS would blow yo mind!
His could have better genetics, it was probably healthier than yours was most the time. A lot of things play factor. It's your first indoor plant, you had problems, many, so don't be too shocked if it doesn't produce or size up to your buddies.
Also when did he start flowering? When he switched the lights or when he saw flowers?

But he said From start to finish hes done in three months.
His plants produce like an ounce each.
I think he just started flowering when he switched to 12/12

I think the difference is based on strain mostly. You will see trich's soon enough. The HPS will make a lot of difference as stated by everyone. Get 8 more cfls and then see how much less you have.

<sigh> Wrong. A 'shitty' strain grown under CFL's will likely still suck when grown under HID's. But it will be a fuller, larger version of suckiness.Quote:

It's akin to the difference between a plant grown in the shade versus a plant grown in full sunlight. Although they both can flower, the one with the least light struggles, in comparison.
Using CFL's...you need more patience, lol. :jointsmile:
Add a couple cfl 10% UVB Reptile bulbs to your flower girls.
the UVB increases trichome production. The trichomes act as sunblock to protect the leaves from the harmful UV light. (think higher tichome production on Himilayan strains, etc, from higher elevation/more UV exposure)
I think you'll find the UVB bulbs to be the missling link of flowering under fluorescents.

First-off, it can come in handy knowing what trichomes are they are there for, and why. Here's some reading you can do to get a better understanding of the trichome:

Secondly, if you are going to recommend using a potentially harmful spectrum, likely you should, at the very least, mention the fact that it can damage skin and eyes, and that proper precautions should be taken.
Plus, you didn't mention distance, timer schedule and effects. For those that are interested...
I've been using a 7% (23w) UVB bulb in my flower shed, which is a medium strength bulb for keeping reptiles...for about 3 months. (UVB necessary for reptiles to shed their skin) Effective range is about 12 inches, but limited effects up to 5 feet.
4-6 inches from tops, 8 hours on, 16 hours off.
Same spectrum of lights used in tanning booths, so use the same care with your eyes and skin, as you would use in full sunshine.
Stunts plant growth. Might want to let indica dom's mature more before adding the UVB...preliminary results on the sats are that it stunts them too, but this may have been due to the soil sitting outside, and being frozen for a couple of weeks. But if the UVB stunts indica doms (it does) then I imagine it does the same to sat doms, too.
Seems to accelerate the 'aging' process, but this does not mean plant is ready early. It means the leaves age faster, lol.
Trichomes on the back side of the leaves start developing a week or two early.
Trichome stalks seem to elongate, but no early trichome maturity.
Does seem to intensify aroma and taste.
Jury still out weather it's increasing trichome's production of THC, tho. Kinda hard to estimate THC levels or changed effects of the high, as I don't think my genetics can get me any more stoned, than they already do...but I like using the bulb.
Keep it on a timer too. I woke-up this morning and found I'd left it on all night. :stoned: Guess I'll find-out the results soon enough.
Not sure if UVB effects are expressed on opposite side of plant. (does the UVB shine on one side of the plant, but effects are also shown on the shaded side?) Have tried running side-by-side experiments, but no way for me to run the light, without exposing most of my ladies to it. Thinking of adding one to my veg room, just to see what happens...
I like the results, so far. I'll eventually do a UVB thread, but I want to get to know it better, first.
Also...use proper care when using UVB. Would suck going blind because of it. :thumbsup:

And if i am not mistaken either Cfl's take alittle more time to progress than HID'S. And what is your Cfl wattage, How many do you have it's not about watts either don't get me wrong it about lumens to.:rastasmoke:
