Bubble Cloner

Hello All,

I recently built a bubble cloner that will hold 9 cuttings at a time. All the advice and tutorials I could find went into building it. I have tried to clone a mother with all 9 spots taken, yet nothing is happening. Its been a week now and the base of the cutting just has a brown rim on it but nothing else, no roots. The tops are starting to sag over now also... I'm just a little confused as everyone says that its such an easy successful method.... So something is wrong....

On one third of them I used the rooting hormone power, another third the gel, the rest were as they were. No difference. Lots of bubbles and moisture too.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

1. I'd go with root gel on all.. I get 100% success.

2. You should have a weak (300-400 ppm or 1/4 strength) flower fertilizer solution in the machine.

3. Keep the water in the cloner right around 75 deg. Best way to do this is use a seedling heat mat and controller. Put the cloner on the mat and the temp sensor on the outside below the water line (usually a suction cup holds it in place).

As far as prepping the clones... I cut them at a 45 deg. angle, let them sit in the gel for 20-30 seconds and then put them in the machine. Normally a couple of weeks for decent roots.

Ok well maybe they are still working on the roots then, its been about a week, can't remember exactly....

Is one of the main keys here to have a LOT of bubbles? Mine doesn't have a tremendous amount but everything on the underside of the lid is wet. I also put them about 1" above the water line. But they just went into the root gel for a second or two only.

I had problems trying to clone this one prior to this also with other methods, just nothing seems to work for me !

The system is in a room with other heat sources, so the water stays warmer.

Also, do you cut the leaves off the cutting when cloning? Or just leave them as they are?

I have just about given up with this... Tried 12 of them in this bubble machine and none of them are doing anything at all. Going on its second week now... Is it possible that I have a strain here that is picky with cloning? I had troubles with her in the past as well.

Also, how important is the temperature of the water in the cloner?

Water temps can make a big differance on how long it will take. I had a strain I couldn't clone in soil, only ones I got to root took 30 days. I built my Bubble cloner and got roots in 14 days the first time, 10 ten days was the fastest this time round, although the lonest was about 21 days. This is with water between 72-78, no nutes in the res, dome gave me mold also so I don't use one anymore. Root powder had better success.

Dude dont give up just try again. I was sucessful at doing 12 in the bubble cloner i built 7 days ago. I used water ph at 6 jumpstart rooting liquid 2 drops super thrive per gal and dipped the cuttings into rooting gel then into the cloner on a seedling heat mat just give it time you will get the hang of it ps water temp 75 to 78 is good and cutting the leaves help them not to sweat and grow you want root growth not plant growth good luck

what exactly should you put in the bubler machine...can you use just a plain water with correct ph? thanks
