You go Illinois, I'm from Fowler!!!!
HEHE
Peoria native here ... but, it only made it out of committee, so far ... still a long ways to go, but good luck to ya, Illinois
I read somewhere that the sponsor of the house bill (Rep. Lang) has said unofficially that if presented to the Governor, he will sign it........ I have my doubts, but we'll see where it goes.
These bills have gotten buried in committees in previous years so it is progress.
And thanks for caring Killerweed...
I read the same, will be signed if it gets to the Governor's office ... but, the mail may have to be forwarded to a prison (Illinois' political retirees' home) :D
OK now that is a cheap shot......Absolutely 100% true, but cheap. ;)
GREAT NEWS !
Illinois state senate passed the bill today 30-28.
Now it goes to the house.
Illinois state House currently has:
70 Democrats
48 Republicans
Shouldn't be a problem to get it thru the house. Our governor, Pat Quinn, is a liberal democrat from Oak Park (1st suburb from the westside of the Chi). I assume he will sign it into LAW.
Eager to read all the details and conditions in the bill !!!
:):thumbsup::hippy:
when does the house vote on this im in springfield i wanna watch when it happens:jointsmile:
Possibly in November, or more likely in January....government moves slowly.
Excerpt from article at MPP...
With the support of courageous sponsors like Sen. Bill Haine (D-Alton) and Rep. Lou Lang (D-Skokie), the Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Pilot Program Act passed the state Senate 30-28 on May 27, marking the first time ever that an effective medical marijuana bill was approved by a chamber of the Illinois General Assembly. Three days later, the clock ran out and the Illinois House of Representatives recessed before the bill could be called for a vote; however, SB 1381 is now well positioned for a House floor vote, possibly during the fall veto session or early next year.
96th General Assembly Session Schedule:
Fall Veto 2009
January 2010
