Homemade Digital Antenna

Since there is interference to the TV signal here and its all antenna, no cable. I was looked around for a way to make a homemade digital antenna, and I found a really simple one on the internet. And damn it works.

What you need is a small coffee can, a hammer, a galvanized nail, a length of coax with connector, and some duct tape.

You tap the nail in the center of the coffee can, strip then one end of the coax and wrap it around the nail. Then drive or push the nail the rest of the way in and tape down the nail with a strip of duct tape. Hook it up and Voila! :thumbsup:

Claims it also works for wifi, but I can quarantee it works for digital TV, but you still need the converter box. And no interference and cheap. :smokin:

Also don't fall for the bullshit of needing high dollar cables(hdmi) for HD. Its lies. For analog you need the best quality wires you can for good quality. For HD it doesn't matter as much. I've seen 6' hdmi cables going for well over $100.

I might add, if you have a soldering iron, you can solder the connection to the can and get even better connectivity and conductivity. :thumbsup:

I use a modification of this plan for a wifi antenna and it works great.

Instead of a coffee can, I used a heavy steel pasta strainer.

I soldered the nail in the center hole with copper wire wrapped around the nail.

I connected the wire from the old antenna to the copper wire and the ground to the outside handle of the strainer.

Attached to the computer I was able to pick up 9 more wifi signals than the original antenna. Even my friends network 4 blocks away :)
