Can A digital ph meter with a CO2 bottle be ued to control the ph in reservoir?

Has anyone ever used a digital ph meter using CO2 pumped into water to control the ph level of nutrients in the reservoir??

The digital ph meter with a CO2 bottle is mainly used in aquarium. The theory of this is to add CO2 making the water more acidic.

Just wondering.. Has anyone heard or used this equipment or can it be used to in the ph level in the reservoir?

While an air pump and stone is making O2 in the reservoir to prevent growth of algae, the ph meter is making Co2 to make reservoir more acidic...
Do they level out each other.... or???

Though buying a ph up and ph down solution is easy, I'm just thinking about saving the trouble to adjust the ph level all the time.

It maybe good for fish that need acidic water and yes it could control the PH.

However it is totally going against what a plant need the most in the root zone 02. The green of the plant needs the c02 and from what I have heard it is not a good idea. Of coarse there is always some one who tries it. It would be interesting to know for sure if you have a grow you can take a chance on killing.

I think I would go with the auto PH system. It works the same way with a constant meter and a tank of PH up and down.

Thanks for answering my question. I wonder the set up is okay for soon to be running growing system.

Below is A list of things I'm using soon:

Rockwool: as my growing medium for my drip system.
Timer: I'll set my timer 3 times a day, 15mins each time (the smallest unit on my timer is 15mins)

Pump: A 800 Liter/hr semersible pump (it's power enough) which pumps up nutrients to feed my plants that are growing in rockwool.

A digital PH/CO2 meter controller (US:69.95 on Ebay) with a CO2 bottle that will constantly adusting the PH level of my reservoir by pumping CO2 into my reservoir.

An air pump with an air stone which will constanly pump O2 into my reservoir.

Nutrients: I'm using an US brand nutrient powder called "HYPONeX " (30 - 10- 10 NPK and This is what I can get right now) to mix with distilled water (one gram/ liter) but I'm going half or one third strength in the first 3 weeks for seedlings, then go full strength.


I'm not too sure if the set up is correct, or if there is anything wrong with this whole set up. Maybe the digital CO2 controller does't go with the air pump with an air stone (and they cancel each other's Co2 and O2 in reservoir ???? ) or maybe something...

Any advise would be a great help.

Hey dude. Im no expert but it doesn't sound like a good idea. It would be much more logical to just get the auto pH balance kit. It seems like it would be a waste of resources just to avoid having to balance the solution, and roots dont need co2, but o2...

Good luck though man. Sweet deal if it works out. haha maybe you will be the co2 reservoir pioneer!!

You're right, It's not point using airstone and CO2 to cancel out each other's CO2 and O2, using either one of them is probably okay.

Ok,when I decided to start useing CO2 I had to run a closed system.air cooled enclosed lights,air conditioner, dehumidifier.
The res and air pumps were in the same room. after installing the CO2 instead of the Ph rising 0.1 point daily, it started dropping off,and the ladies started getting spots and looked sickly.why? because the air pumps were bubbling in 1500 ppm C02 enriched room air.
moved the air pumps. don't think they liked CO2 in the water

Can I leave my ph meter in water or does the tip need to sit in the cap with buffer 4.01?
