Begginers Hydroponic Set Up
Alrite, i'm new to the Hydroponics and thinking of buying these as a begginers set up:
http://www.growell.co.uk/p/7001/BudBox-Grow-Tents.html
and
http://www.growell.co.uk/p/1289/Hobb...t-NFT-400.html
Does that include everything I would need?
Also does anyone with experiance know how much these kits knock your electricity bill up?
Thanks

If you have a room to put a tent in, then save your money and just use the room. If you plan to do the number of plants that syst holds then it might be a good buy but if only doing a few then save your money there as well and dump it in digital ballasts/lights, fans..etc. Best thing you can do is read, then when your done, do some reading. lol Look through the hydro section and research, research on systems others are using, their benefits and how that applies to your situation. Many, including myself do ALOT of DIY so reading there will end up the best friend you ever had.

This is the best advice.
It's your thread now tell us the size of your room and many will help you save alot. I would put my money in the big light and the rest is here. Come on hydro with us.

I def agree with the 2 posts before, that system is NFT you might want to start with an easier system. Get the biggest HPS light you can preferably digital.

and if your gonna use same space for entire grow make sure ballast can run both MH and HPS bulbs that way you can cover veg and flower with correct bulbs.
DIY all the way!!!

Just getting one of my bro's to order a light setup from DH. Would of liked to got the electronic ballast but not in the budget yet. We got the 1000 switchable ballast 6 inch cool hood and a hortilux eye HPS for 345 dollars shipped all the way across country. We can pic up a MH bulb here and if you don't know.
Always get the bigger ballast because you can run a smaller bulb in a big ballast but not the other way around. so we will pick up a 400 MH cheap and he will veg fine.

The kit you mention contains a pH test kit, this will be a liquid kit. There is no mention of an EC meter (to test total dissolved solids, PPM), so you would probably want a digital pH meter and EC meter.
There are loads of hydro shops in the UK, I have a few hydro shops within 10 miles of me which I never knew existed until I looked, don't know if you have looked in your area. If there is one near you, you can pay cash to save leaving an electronic trace, and the shop owner will surely do a great deal if you buy all the gear in one visit (for cash!).
I started my first grow recently and decided to use a deep water culture (DWC) bucket, and things have gone great. You can buy a DWC kit for about £15-£20.
Hope this is helpful. Happy growing dude!

Very good advice so far.
IMHO. If you are a beginner...DO NOT get the biggest light possible. Big lights put out A LOT of heat and beginners have plenty to worry about, don't add heat problems to that list. I started with a 400w and have never had serious heat issues. I now have 2 400w (800w total) and i still have very little heat to deal with. 600w would be the biggest i would go for a beginner. And even then you'll get a good taste of what the heat can do.
as far as your electric bill...it's hard to say because we are thousands of miles apart. But my 2 400w lights are about $40 a month.
I would also veg with CFLs or fluorescent tubes until you get the hang of it. Metal Halide is great for VEG but it's a lot more power and still lots of heat.
That NFT system is pretty rough for a beginner as well. The simplest system i've ever used is a 5 gallon bucket DWC. It's a 5 gal bucket, an airpump, and an airstone. that's all. no moving parts...no moving water...just sits there and grows big as fuck.
good luck and keep us posted.
