Pruning water leafs to increase light to more of the plant?

I've been growing cabinet weed in old telecom cabinets with a 2x2 ebb flow setup. I do some bending and in a few weeks I have a little jungle with just 6 plants in my tray. I was wondering if anyone else is growing in a confined area and has pruned off water leafs and measured the results. The goal to have better developed bud at the lower portion of the plant. Pics are all in my profile photo "Cabinet Growing" photo album. I've read where some folks just don't even want to cut off anything until it's ready to fall off naturally. I've read other posts where growers say cut of lower main leafs. If you got an idea on this, drop a line. Later.

i started in a cabinet with a one plant scrog, lots of trimming of leaves to expose bud sites to light...the result was 74 grams dried
last time around...moved to a slightly larger closet with the same light with absoultely no trimming.....the result 140 some odd grams, twice the yield.
i say dont prune, just tuck

If the plant grew the leaf, it needs the leaf.
From what I know, the leaves are the solar cells of the plant that absorb light and allow the plant to grow.
The buds are the sex organs, not the solar cells. I'd agree with the post above, tuck dont cut

Thanks, now that is a measured result. I haven't been steady enough to trust my measurements from one grow to the next. I'll try tucking on the next tray.

Look, I was a bio major the first time around in college. Leaves are the "food factories" of your plant. LOOK at a bud- how much leaf surface is there? LOOK at a fan leaf- it is a lot larger!

Take a look at the way the plant is constructed. Each branch had a fan leaf feeding it, helping it grow. On each branch, more leaves that each feeds their own bud.

Tuck if you must, but let those fan leaves be! Me? It doesn't come off until it is 3/4 canary yellow or falls of it's own accord! When leaves get old, the plant will suck all the food out of them.

Plants have been growing for longer than there have been humans (either from a scientific, or a biblical, view). The plant knows how to be a plant. Let it do its thing! :D

I like what you said about the plant knowing what it's supposed to do. Maybe it's possible that people forgot what people are supposed to do and that's why we're on these boards having these discussions :-)

Thanks, I'm totally down with letting nature do it's thing. Unfortunately, society (however you want to define forced behavioral rule) has forced peaceful people to do "un-natural" things in order to grow our treasured herb. If I was growing outdoors there wouldn't be a question of leaving the plant alone. Regardless, I'm gonna keep on letting 'em do what they do even if they are jammed in a cabinet. As far as biblical goes, the bible we are aware of today is only the writings romans selected to dominate its citizens with mental slavery. Although it may contain many facts, it is anything but a holy document.

from the Bible. The Book of Odo, for one. I found a mention in another book- merely that they weren't going to go over some history, since it was already well covered in the book of Odo. (In my younger days, I read the Bible, cover to cover, 3 times.)

(a) I "see" what I am reading. I avoid the Old Testament simply because I "see the movie" in my head. The slaughter of whole towns (except for the young, pretty, usually prepubescent, virgin girls) is not a good thing to "watch". (OK, I know someone is going to take me to task for that "prepubescent" description. Girls were often considered "property" throughout the middle east, and were usually married off very young by our standards. This continues today with amazing frequency throughout the world. Do a web search on "child brides" and see what I mean. :( )

(b) I'm Wiccan. Granddad was the Christian minister, not me! But I don't think that he and I are that different as people. I just took another path "up the mountain".
