I have been Inspired to write a book!!
All throughout my life I have hated English. I have HATED ENGLISH!!! I hated writing and I utmost hated reading. Until recently however....
Ever since I have started smoking pot (1 year ago) I have been intrigued by reading books and writing. Marijuana has made my mind go wild and explore its limits ten fold. I have kept a diary where I only write in when I am high and I have decided to take it to the next step. About 3 weeks ago I began to take ideas from my diary and incorporate them into a storyline. I am completely motivated to write this whole book under the influence of marijuana. Do you think this is a good idea?
I don't plan to take this seriously I just enjoy writing when I am high more than when I am sober. I mean would you want to read a book written by a stoner who was stoned the whole time he wrote the book? I hope this stirs up some kind of discussion haha.
Anyway that's my story for the night. I hope it brings some inspiration to somebody somewhere:thumbsup:

You're not the first one to write while under the influence of something. The stars only know what Casteneda was smoking when he wrote his books. However is might be a good idea to do your editing when you're sober or have someone else do it for you. Oh, and if you should get to the point where you submit to a publisher, depending on the subject matter, you might want to consider not mentioning that you were buzzed when you wrote it until after you sell your first million copies and the check has cleared.

Do it! Books and newspapers are slowly dying out as the internet takes over. Are you thinking of making it a memoir or straight fiction?

Ya Ken Kesey who wrote One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest was a big acidhead, plus Hunter S Thompson also wrote under the influence of an exotic cocktail of psychedelics
Anyway good luck with your book and like bonsai said read it sober as well, the more perspectives you can read it from the better. Also, you will probably be writing for a largely sober audience anyway. I find weed useful for writing though, I remember many an English essay done baked when I was in school, I really got a kick out of it when the teacher praised specific phrases that I had devised baked haha :stoned:
My maths skills on the other hand go to shit...............

I wrote most of my papers stoned as possible! The profs said they enjoyed my "novel" takes on stuff they had read a 1000 times. The Lit teacher even said she saved my papers for "dessert". :D The only problem is that my spelling and grammar suffer a bit. So I just go through it later, sober, and fix all of the "oopses".
I think of cannabis as a "mind lubricant"- the ideas get "slippery" and combine in new ways. Most of what I write, is written stoned (but then, except when I'm at work, I'm usually stoned :hippy: ). Cannabis enhances creativity.
Now that you don't HAVE TO write, I think your natural writing ability is surfacing. Writing is funny- if you force it, it's hard to do well. If you don't like what you are writing about, it is a real chore! But, you're done with the "required assignments" and this is just for you- not for a grade. So smoke a bit and just let those ideas flow!
So go for it, hon! Enjoy your new hobby of stoned writing!

this book is complete complete fiction. It has a quite epic feel to it. When I write the book when I am baked I picture a Lord of the Rings feel to it. Its really just a visual representation of how wild my imagination becomes when I smoke. Its a cool story though even when im sober.

Well... i dont think he was under influence when he did write the books, but surely he did use a LOT of psychedelics (datura, peyote and mushrooms) during his apprenticeship with don Juan Matus...
And writing a book while stoned is not a new idea... there was even a club called "The Hashish Club", in France at the 19th century, where writers, artists and etc used to meet, smoke hashish and record their experiences. So probably there are a lot of books we read that are written under influence.
I personally think that Tolkien was a first-rate stoner... and if reading his books isnt a good enough proof, remember that the elves resembles potheads (they love nature, eating, singing, they can talk with animals and trees, they hear the rivers voices, and the list goes on...), and that pipe-smoking is an important part of the history... look at how they value their pipes and weed... remember Gandalf trying to decide which way to get when they were lost in Moria mines... "I know whats wrong with me - he said - i didnt smoke!"... then he smoked and thought and then decided. Much like me, a stoner (of course), which thinks twice about anything... one time sober and one time stoned...
