WaterFarm self-contained hydro system?

GENERAL HYDROPONICS

Is this a good starter hyrdro system? I was planning on getting 4 separate buckets.

Vegging starting at 24/0 for 1 or 2 weeks, then switch to 18/6 unitl mature enough. I will be using 6 3000k 30 watt cfl bulbs.

Flowering start at 12/2 using 6 6700k cfl's not sure what watts i should be going for. I cant afford a HPS and read that i dont need one, even though they will make flowering alot better.


How does that set up sound? for now i'm still working out some other stuff.

Anything else that you think i should know please dont hesitate.

Waterfarms are good BUT I would build my own cheap and easy. Save the money for a 600 or 1000 HPS to flower..

If you go with what you say clf's start a grow log so we can see the out come of clf's. The guy's who gets good bud off of clf and flouro's are pushing as many lumens as a 1000 watt HPS. Same energy same heat just spead out.

I am getting alot of the same advice to make my own bubble bucket type and use the money from the waterfarm for a flowering light. I found a really cheap hps system on hid hut, Full Spectrum 400W HPS Bulb for $24.99 and Economy Reflector/ Drip Guard for $24.99 does that sound good?

Again i'm completely new to hydro.

what is a ballast?

P.S. I am definatly going to start a grow log once i get all the logistics sorted out.

That's not bad for bulb and refletor but the big deal is the Ballast. It operates to bulb properly. They come in HPS and MH or Digital that works both.

Hydro is easy. The hard part is making the enviroment the way you want it. Keeping it cool with A/C and ventilation.

Logs are good. Helps others starting out.

im with loc-nar on the homemade thing...i made my dwc system for like 5 bucks for 5 plants. very easy, get some 1 or 2 gallon containers. as for the lighting...im with you niceguy on the lighting issue 1. i cant afford hps right now and 2. i have a potential heat issue in a small space. i am going to execute my first grow in years with only flouro's and i hope that is works in my favor...which brings me to my next post ;]

if you're capable of growing good plants, you're more than capable of building your own home for them. don't be lazy, show some love. those systems are easy to construct, and everything minus the air pump and leca stones can be bought at home depot. 1 trip to home depot, 1 to hydro shop for pellets, 1 to wall mart for a discount pump. presto. do i need to make a motivational video to get u off your couch?
