Fan leaves important for secondary growthes?
i was under the assumption that clipping the big fan leaves off of the main stem would only be beneficial to secondary growthes because of 1. light getting to them easier, and 2. balancing the root to shoot ratio..
however, upon some reading the in log forums, sum1 said that clipping the fan leaves will be bad for your secondary growth (go-fucking-figure that i read this AFTER i just clipped three big fan leaves that were covering some of my up and coming secondary growthes (im LSTING)
so is this claim true? are my growhtes (which are about 2 inches a peice) that had they;re attached fan leaves clipped going to be stunted now?????
thanks =]

Your best bet is to not fuck with fan leaves unless absolutely necessary. The fan leaves convert sunlight into a usable energy along with nutrients that are taken up from the roots.:)

petes right. the plant needs its leaves in order to absorb the energy from light without the leaves theres less energy and the plant will suffer because of it.

yah but it becomes an issue when the fan leaves are covering over my growthes that i want to gain sunlight. shouldnt the leaves on the growthes be able to do the same as the big fan leaves?

the bigger the leaf the more light absorbed the more energy created. it will also depend on how many other leaves your plant has and how big they are.

now alot of people make mention of a plants attempt to balance the root-to shoot ratio... by doing this, arnt i promoting the plant to push for more growth in its other branches and leaves??
