I make those for less than half the price. I started with just drip but throw in a air stone and that's it.. If you don't want to make one they are great for a small closet and a 400 to 600 light. 2 of them and a 1000 watt light can get you over a pound at harvest.
You need ventilation. A good PH/PPM meter and I would get 1 inch rockwool cubes for clones or seeds and more hydrotron rocks. Most of all some good nutrients like General Hydroponics 3 part and PH up and down.
some thing as simple as these system that they sell you for $100 + dollars is outrageous!!! you can pick up all this material for about $25 at any store like wall mart or major home store.
plastic tote $ 5.00
dual diaphragm air pump $ 10.00
air stones -qty 2 $5 for both
net pots any size you want anywhere from 50 cents up to $2.00 a piece for the larger 6" ones you will have to go to a hydro store to pick these up.
the only thing left if your choice of nutrients.
the only thing they do for you is cut the holes out in the lid, if you have a whole saw or a razor knife just flip your net pot up side down mark it with a sharpie and cut. about 10 min in the store and 10 min assembly time just saved you $ 50 bucks.
I bought the DWC and I ended up having to buy another air pump because one was not enoughQuote:

yup, i mean truthfully its the easiest thing in the world to make. if you can take a straw and blow bubbles into a glass of water you can make it.
i went to there site and for the basic 6 pot setup, costs $117 shipped, with out any media or anything.
hey on the bright side though you get a cool sticker on the reservoir.
I told my buddy we could make one easily, he even already has a same size tote or whatever container thing its called. he just wants to buy the system thing.
I dont see what the hype is for it though. just looks like someone made a hydro system out of a fish tank.
If you have the money get one. It's a start and then you have a model to make your own or develop one that works for you.
i would agree....if it was anything but this system. honestly i built 3 ebb and flow tables 3 or 4 recirculating drip systems and a couple nft systems before i ever grew a damn thing.and you know what one of these systems was the first thing i purchased about 3 or 4 years ago before these kids ever found a name for them selves off of ebay. do you know how stupid i felt whenmy $89 package showed up???? pissed. would you pay twice as much in gas just because??? if i told you i could sell you a car that only needed a battery for $150 bones but if u wanted i could replace the baattery for you for but its going to cost $1,150 what would you do?
im just curious now why they still have a website and still sell them if they dont work. hmm.Quote:

Yes I'm sure he knows and these systems do work. They are pricey for the first buyer but once you see it and learn what you need to go with it. Then you see it can be made easy for cheap. Lights and meters and nutrients are where my bucks go. BUT, I had to learn by buying one drip system.
Everything you do kind of has to be tweaked to your setup.
All I can say about hydro is. ( Come on in Boy's the water is fine.)
