CFL - Compact Fluorescent Light
these are the little "spiral-y" type bulbs. they have a built in ballast at the base of the bulb. let's say a 4' fluoro tube emits 3300 lumens. 2 26-watt CFLs could put out 3200-3500 lumens. reference picture below.
ohhh i see, and how well would say 2 or 3 of them work throughout flowering?
good enough for 1 or 2 plants to produce ok-to-good. you can get larger ones 40, 75, 100W that will do more. for flower get the 2700K(temp) version (GE at Home Depot, its on the back of the pack).

what u mean 'its on the back of the pack'? and yah i think imma go with cfl's for sure, how are these on energy consumption? would high wattage be bad?
This was my first time and I did it completely with floros...I never used "cfls" i dont believe but instead i used the tube lights.
I started out with a few 2 foot grow bulbs on the walls which costed around 20 dollars then finally upgraded and bought a 4 foot shop light fixture hung it from the ceiling stuck 2 4' grow bulbs in that bad boy and it was off to the races from there. I ended up getting 1 more fixture but could only put one bulb into it cause they sold up but my grow is doing rather nicely..they're a couple weeks into flowering and producing very very nice buds
One thing i should have done different; once i put them into flowering got lower kelvin temperature bulbs and they probably would have produced better but as for my (first ever) very low budget grow i'm satisfied with the outcome(havn't harvested yet, though)
Hey Stealth,
Did you use any CO2 in your closet for flowering?
Hey Nick,and Funk,
I've been growing for a long time and it's been my experience that any flour's are great for rooting and also vegging(to a cetrian point),but they just don't have the intensity for flowering.
I run three 600wHPS on a suncircle light mover(constently turning in a circle,one revalution every 5 minutes) in a 4'x4' tray.
My last harvest I had 4 purple kush's in 10 gallon containers with a CO2 generator,exhaust fans,circulation fans and AC,and I yielded just under 30 oz's! I couldn't have got that kind of yield with 100 flour's and/or cfl's!
Just tryin' to save you time and money, because sooner or later you WILL decide to upgrade, and when you do you should check out LED's. That is what I am going to use next as soon as I can get my hands on them.
Hope this helps, I just wanna be helpful!
