a good idea, but how will you secure the connection?
You must have a nice little set up going. Got any pics?
There is some surveillance camera and program all together for this purpose. But you got to be sure no one can hack you're connection and the the live feed. These thing are usually not so cheap. You may think about a web cam with a long usb wire or wireless if it does exist, I don't remember seeing any.
Have a friend who is setting up a web based system like the one you're talking about but in my opinion that is way sketchy unless you can be absolutely sure that your connection is fully secure and nobody else can get in.
Also, would you be able to turn pumps\fans\etc on and off from this remote location? That is what he's trying to set up, it makes the camera system much more valuable if it can save you time AND peace of mind knowing everything is fine.
was hoping the feed would be encrypted and run thru an SSL connection. I know there are babycams available with some degree of security (for child day care providers / parents) ... not sure if there is a commercial product available?Quote:

Now the first thing your going to need is a static ip address otherwise you will lose connection every so many days "when your ISP changes your IP". Also be sure to password it, so nobody happens to stumble upon your cams, if your needing help deciding on what kind of cameras you need please feel free to email me at [email protected] . Computers is my profession. I'll be glad to help
