During their nap time?
Strictly a guess, no scientific evidence one way or another......but my personal thought would be yes, it could shock them.
If someone flashed a bright light at me when I was sleeping I'd be PISSED!
I'd save the flash photography for lights on, or even a couple minutes before or after.
If moonlight doesn't disrupt bloom, and lightening doesn't disrupt bloom, then I'd have to say that in moderation the effect would be negligible. The flash is a tiny fraction of a second - but you would still need enough light to be able to see to focus your camera, that's more significant and longer duration. You can get around that, however, by using a safe light which is green and doesn't interfere with the dark period. I wouldn't worry about the effect of the flash as long as you're only taking one or two shots a week or so.
Truth is, I've had to disrupt my plants' sleep frequently for various reasons, possibly a minute or two at a time, at least once every couple weeks if not more often during my last grow - and didn't notice any ill effects at all, no stressed hermies or stunted confused plants - so I can't really imagine a camera flash causing any real world problems.
The "rules" for growing indoors and outdoors are not entirely the same. Plus nature is not as concerned about sensimellia as we are. Light leaks and variations to their lighting schedule can sometimes cause them to hermie.Quote:

Can't really say I can compare the moon and some sort of room light and I've seen people's grow hermie from streetlamps.....so I'm afraid I don't agree with Kowalski about it. Again, my opinion, only.
HPS lighting really messes up photography for our purposes. I would do it within 5 minutes or less, after lights out...only...:thumbsup:
(:stoned:...actually...that's the same thing PlainJane said...:stoned:)
thx for all the replies!
I take my pics during lights on. If you don't like the yellow of the HPS light then do a custom white balance if your camera has the option. I never use a flash. it's way too intense and makes the photos way too harsh for me.
i like manual settings, here's what i come out with: http://boards.cannabis.com/growing-i...ml#post1928339
Why do you take pictures during lights off? is it the HPS causing problems?
let us know.
Skeet.
yea i take it with the white balance configurationQuote:

even with the white balance, theres too much orange yellow light to get a picture closer to daylight or to see the true green of the leaves
