i got mites and need help like now.....

so whats up everyone? i hope to get some serious answers to a couple questions for my current grow........
well first i have two bonsai sized (under 1 foot...including pot..) plants..
and 4 seedlings... my major problem is i have mites..... i want to remove them but the eco way.... i have heard of grouping all infected close together to keep from spreading.. and spraying with water and rubbing alcohol because the mites will drie up from alcohol>? then putting them under a type of humidor? but my plants are blooming and have been continuously for a year now.... i have harvested many times from my two midgets and now they are sick... any help would be greatly appreciated.... i dont want budd rot from water sitting and being trapped in humidor.......

my second question is....... how many phenos can a mother plant contain before passing on her genes to her offspring... i know there is a million possibilities but in my limited experience of the past decade i have not figured out why my plant i started out with 10 years ago and harvested seeds and regrown those seeds over and over again until now why is there so many differnt lookin plants from one mother plant. i have weeded out the inferior plants based on what i was lookin for and now they all grow one foot or less but..... some stems are purple...some yellow....some different combinations of yellow and green and purp... same with budds and veins in the leafs.... all different in every way...

Yes, rubbing alcohol will help. MIX 1 part isopropyl alcohol, with 2 parts water, and a dash of dish soap in a spray bottle. Spray the plants liberally with the solution every day or two days. This should definately impact the mites populations and with some dilligence, will eventually eliminate them. Good for plants, good for people!

As for the phenotypes, there are definately a million possibilities. There are about a quadrillion factors that can affect genetics, so it would be very hard to pinpoint anything without knowing a complete and definate history of your plants. Anyways, it could be as simple as, no offense, that you are selecting the wrong qualities in the plant.

Just your thoughts? Have you actually sprayed your plants liberally with alcohol every day or two for more than a week consecutively?

NEVER spray plants with rubbing alcohol to the point of runoff, and CERTAINLY don't do it repeatedly. That will not only kill the mites, but it will remove the protective waxy layer that the plants have on their leaves to protect themselves from water loss. You will also leach nutrients out of the leaf. The plant is more likely to die of this suggested treatment than of a minor mite infestation. I just visited a client who had KILLED his garden with alcohol sprays just because he had white flies, which are not really even a threat to plants! I was like, OMG... Needless to say he is starting from scratch now. The few remaining live plants were so badly damaged they were not salvageable.
Correct mite treatments include light mists of neem or coriander oil, room bombs, no-pest strips, or systemic pesticides. Also try a natural Pyrethrin spray like 'vegetable insect spray' products. Check that the active ingredient is pyrethrin and it contains no piperonyl butoxide if you are using it in flower.

I had mites for about 1 year.... tried about everything to get rid of them....you can kill the adults its the eggs that hatch every 3-4 days that get us.

The only thing I have used that totally inilated the spider mite
(attacked their nervous system and made them sterile:thumbsup:)

was a product called AVID

It works wonders.

Just as a note to your reply Stinky, I work for a university under the wing of someone who has been caring for a large number of tropical plants, which I consider to be much more finiky than cannabis, for 25 years. She has been using this dillution of alcohol and water with success that entire time and has not noticed any ill effects from its use. The decision to use alcohol dillutions was made by a board of professors in the botany field, who oversee our work. As per their recommendation, we spray twice a week, liberly, and this keeps most common pests in check. And from what I have seen, the only thing that will remove the protective covering from the leaves is by rubbing it off, with your hand, rag, etc, while cleaning.

Just thought I would clarify a little, although I could see how going overboard with this could be potentially harmful. I am not exactlly sure if the effects are different on cannbis, but I personally use this method on my plants and houseplants, and have not noticed any ill effects. :)

I used to have spidermite problems, now I laugh at spidermites ever since I discovered a product called "FLORAKILLER".
One application mixed with water and sprayed on all sufaces of the plant kills all spidermites AND the eggs for 30 days. It has never hurt my plants even in late stages of flowering!
I get it at my local hydro store.

Neem oil works, spray it on both sides of the leaves every two weeks. I spray water on mine every day. It keeps the mite populations down. good luck, Happy Trails
