ok i just ordered this 1000 Watt - High Pressure Sodium - 2000K - Clear - LU1000/ET25 - Plusrite #L10009151202... how far away should the light be from my two week old seedlings.. and how much heat will it make... the setup is in a spare bathroom so, space and height is not a requirement.... and does it screw into any socket? i bought a base off some old man that scraps metal, for 2 dollars base + reflector... it says on it. that it uses hid bulbs.. so if it says it it does it right? LOL
this is the reflector and base.. WILL THIS WORK? for 1000 watts?

A 1000 watt HPS bulb requires a 1000 watt HPS ballast. No way around that. ANSI codes: E39 mogul base and S52 ballast.
I think 1000 watt bulbs throw off some serious heat. You can veg with CFL's or Flouro tubes and use the HPS for flowering.
