Need a ventilation guru!!! Please help!!!
:rastasmoke: ok........keep in mind....hydro system...in a closet about
5'x2'(deep)x7'
have a dr60 grow tent (2'x2'x4'7''), the tent has passive air intakes at bottom for cool, clean air...getting a cooltube (19") (due to height constraints)...have a vortex (4" 172 cfm) fan that exausts to attic...planning on flowering here...have 4" filter that i want to chain in this order: filter>duct>cooltube>duct>exaust
I am pretty much set on getting a cmh (ceramic metal halide) lamp for the grow just because of the ridiculous spectrum...it's quailty not quantity here.
I want to go with the 400w cmh....(approx 34,000 inital lumen, 29,000 lumen mean).
I plan on flowering only 1 plant in here.
My questions are:
1. Can i use this 400w lamp in this situation? or is the lamp just over kill for 1 plant?
2. If yes, do i need to upgrade my fan?
3. If none of the above, any suggestions that would make this work???
Thanks in advance. :hippy:

I think that your initial setup is about right, but you won't be able to run much of a filter on a <200cfm fan. Try a 4" OdorSok.
Your setup will work best if you train your plant to lay rather flat and wide until you flip to flower, and then just let her grow.
I suggest starting 3 plants so at least you have a really high chance of at least one female.

So the odorsok is more cfm flow?

as far as your venting goes... your closet is only 70 cu ft...so 172 cfm is plenty. You might need a secondary fan for the intake... to bring a 172cfm of fresh air into the closet/tent it is. So the pressures are equal.
I don't really understand how the cooltube works. Why do you need to duct the cooltube? so the supply air is cold?
for the exhaust part it should be...
duct>filter>exhaust
but im guessing your way could work too...
